    This week's episode brings Chelsea Chandler, a Registered Dietician who practices in Florida and spreads body positivity, intuitive eating, dispels fat-shaming and diet culture, and is a wealth of information that can help mental health clinicians work with clients and patients struggling with disordered eating.

    Chelsea received her Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Diatetics at the University of North Florida, and received her Masters of Public Health and Nutrition from the University of South Florida. 

    Chelsea has worked as a Food Service Dietician at Emory University and during this time she connected with her love of unique foods and cooking. Chelsea has a passion for connecting with people who are stuck in a pattern reinforced by diet-focused culture and brings her unique skills and talents to those she works with and teaches. 

    She is currently working with students as an instructor at the University of North Florida and in her own private practice.

    This week on Therapist on Therapist I interview Dr. Katie Moore. Dr. Moore shares her path to becoming a clinician, the particular population she is working with, and how she has decided to pursue additional training to better serve her clients. Katie shares, anonymously, an incredible story about one of her former clients and the success she has seen during her clinical work.

    Dr. Katie shares some of her experiences doing EMDR and ways it can work and help clients heal from minor and major traumas. We learn Dr. Katie's incredible person-centered approach to working with her clientele and how she is dedicated to the particular populations in foster care in Orange County, California.

    Katie Moore, PsyD, is a Doctor of Clinical Psychology from Southern California. She works in community mental health with social services involved youth. She specializes in complex trauma and frequently works with LGBTQ+ teens who are currently in 'out of home' placement.

    This episode of 'Therapist on Therapist' brings Kirk Westwood on to talk about one of his specialties, communication, and in this episode particularly, how to make an effective apology. Kirk is not a 'therapist', but after listening to this episode you'll wish he was. 

    Kirk Westwood is a storyteller. He is the co-founder and CEO of Glass River Media, named a Top 25 strategic communication agency by the Washington Business Journal. Kirk has contributed to Hollywood films, national commercials and public affairs policy.   

    He has worked in both public and private sectors as a communications consultant, blogger, and ghost writer; as well as a Communications Specialist and Public Affairs Specialist.   

    He has Masters Degree from Georgetown University in Public Relations and Corporate Communications and has a best selling book “The Very Best Bad Idea” about communication, cognition, and creativity.   

    No matter what his professional title has been, Kirk's job description has always been a variation of the same thing: to help people tell their stories.

Dr. Pat Cleary, MD, and myself go on a wide-ranging exploration of topics related to therapy and topics absolutely far removed as well. This will be one you digest in pieces...I couldn't believe we talked for nearly two hours.

    Dr. Pat is currently director of CFG Health Systems in Media, Pennsylvania. He shares with me some of the intense challenges he has had supporting staff and patients during the COVID 19 pandemic, and gives some insight as to what may be coming next.

    Dr. Lesley Cook, PsyD, practices in Virginia and specializes in the overlap of ADHD and Autism, Learning Disabilities, Parents and Children, and LGBT Folks. Her particular therapeutic target is working with the individual and finding what gives them joy.

    Clocking in at just under two hours, I promise you this will be time well spent. Lesley has so many nuggets of wisdom you will not want to miss a word she says. Learn about her journey to becoming a clinician which takes her all over the US and finally lands her in Virginia. We also get a cameo appearance by her Tiktok famous son, Ben, and learn a little more what a great kid he is. We learn what an incredible mom Lesley is in addition to being a clinician one learn something new from in nearly every Tiktok she posts. 

    Filled with some interesting twists and turns, Lesley's story is full of compassion, education, radical acceptance, and the real-ness that often makes each clinician so perfectly matched for the populations they serve.

    Dr. Patrice Berry is a psychologist, speaker, coach, and creates content on social media. She provides educational information online to help destigmatize mental health. She is the owner of Mind Your Legacy, LLC., and loves to help people with their personal and business goals.

    I'm not sure exactly what to say about this interview...again...except to say that each person's journey is incredibly nuanced, full of twists and unexpected turns, and that it is exactly this journey which prepares us to fully engage with the populations that we work with.
