With more than 17 years of experience, Hajer’s work has focused on bringing global attention to the plight of people affected by conflict, forced displacement, and humanitarian crises and identifying solutions. She is also experienced in providing strategic leadership to raise the
    public profile of international organizations and helping executives position themselves as thought leaders. Her field missions included Northeast Nigeria, Mali, Cameroon, Niger, The Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Central African Republic, Yemen, Iraq, and Haiti. She currently serves as the Director of Communications at an international NGO whose mission is the protection of civilians in conflict. She currently lives in the Hague, the Netherlands.

She's a regular speaker on Islam Channel and has appeared on many radio shows, mainstream magazines and podcasts. Maryam has been supporting Muslim mothers and the wider community for over 6 years. She supports mothers to break oppressive and cultural parenting patterns to create healthier cycles. She works predominately within black and brown communities. 

    Maryam holds a degree in South Asian and African colonial history. She is also a Montessori trained teacher and a certified parenting coach and has combined her expertise in both areas to found "Black and Brown Parenting". Her main message is to change the narrative of growing up in an ethnic household to strengthen the Ummah.
