In this Season 1 wrap up episode we share what we learned, what surprised us the most as well as some of our favourite moments from the first season. We also cover what’s next for Zero Broke Girls. This week we’re talking to Jennifer, and you don’t want to miss this episode! We talked about so much, from marriage, to staying home to raise kids, to divorce and what all of that meant for her finances.  After Jennifer’s divorce, she bet on herself and grew her interior design business into a million dollar business. It was during her time in the interior design business that she noticed a lack of female representation in the real estate investment world. This led Jennifer to launch WIRE Investment Corp. in 2019, with the intent to create wealth and opportunity for female investors. We loved talking about all of this with Jennifer, who believes that female capital - in talent, insight, and experience, as well as money - is one of the great untapped resources, and we couldn’t agree more!

This week we’re talking to Olivia Crossman, who is a Franco-Ontarian lawyer working in Human Resources for the federal government of Canada. For three years Olivia taught Human Rights Law at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law, and on this episode we cover some of the topics taught in this course. One of the main things we cover is the difference between pay EQUALITY and pay EQUITY. Olivia explained the legal framework of pay equity and broke it all down so we could understand how we got to where we are and whether there are things that can be done to help reduce gender pay discrimination in the workplace.

This week we’re talking to Dyana, who runs the Instagram account MoneyBossMama. She is a Money & Mindset Coach who helps women, specifically single moms, take control of their emotional spending and overcome mindset blocks on their financial journey, just as she was able to do. Dyana shared the major mindset shifts she made to take back power and define financial success on her own terms. We loved talking to Dyana about her money journey, and how she is teaching her kids about money as a single mom.

This week, we're talking to Rosemary. Rosemary runs the Instagram account FirstGenRiches where she is on a journey to build first-generation wealth and help her followers with money topics they didn’t learn growing up. We loved talking to Rosemay about her story, her mission to help people with their money, and some of her savings and investing strategies. This week we’re talking to Ashley, a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) at Picta Financial. Ashley was lucky because she grew up with a strong foundation in financial education, thanks to her mom who is also a CFP. Seven years ago, Ashley joined her mom, and they became a mother-daughter financial advising team (how amazing is this!). In this episode, Ashley talks through what she does as a CFP, and how she makes financial education a large part of the service she offers her clients. Ashley also talks about the importance of transparency when working with a financial planner and has great advice on what questions you should be asking a potential financial planner. She also talks about common challenges and advice on how to get started planning for the financial future you want.
