Whiskey and Ry Ryan Charles Brown
-
- Education
Over the past 5 years host, Ryan Charles Brown has given over 7,500 Uber/Lyft rides around the city of Los Angeles. In this time, he heard stories from people traveling in from all parts of the world. Some of the stories that were shared included, rites of passage into “manhood”, what it might mean to “be a man” today and in the future, and how can men participate in dismantling toxic masculinity? Then one night, while sipping some whiskey at a bar with a friend, Whiskey & Ry was born.
The Social Club we are building seeks a conversation that would cross multiple boundaries and build bridges into areas of conversation that have been “cut off” by the traditional interpretation of masculinity and what it means to be a man today. Whiskey & Ry provides a pathway into an honest, vulnerable, and courageous dialogue about topics that will both interest and challenge listeners to think deeper into ways in which men can be a part of the movement to promote men's self-care and healthy expressions of masculinity.

Season 4, Episode 3 - Christy and Alex Acevedo
We heard from Christy in Episode 1. Then we heard from Alex in Episode 2. Now we get them both for Episode 3! AND! This is a Whiskey & Ry first as we have never had two guests before. This conversation was such a DELIGHT!
I finally got to ask them how they told my nieces about this process and the girls even came on the show to say a quick, "Hi!" This was such a fun experience for me, I feel like I got to know two people I love and admire very much and that is such a gift!
I hope you enjoy this episode! Thank you so much for tuning into this latest season.----more----

Season 4, Episode 2 - Alex Acevedo
We are back with Episode 2 of the new season of W&R. We are so happy to welcome on to the show, Alex Acevedo!
Alex is my brother-in-law, and the husband to my sister, Christy, who we heard from in the last episode. In this captivating episode, Alex shares his perspective, as we joked about on the show, about him being the "low man" on the totem pole. But his endless love and support for Christy is apparent throughout the entire conversation. I am so thankful to Alex for coming on and sharing his part of the story!
We have one more installment of this series coming soon! Stay tuned for the 3-Part Series finale and also for more episodes in the upcoming season.

Season 4, Episode 1 - Christy Acevedo
We are back!
After an unplanned (unexpected) break, we are back with all new episodes! In our first episode, we get the special privilege of hearing from someone I have known my whole life. Someone who knows me better than most people I know. It's my sister, Christy!
About 4 years ago, she and her husband, Alex, and their two girls had their lives changed most magically. It all started when my sister answered a Facebook post from a friend from High School. This would be the beginning of her journey as a surrogate for her friend.
In this episode, Christy shares her story and all that went into her making this selfless and life-changing decision. As her big bro, I am so proud of her and how she showed such a radical act of love. And I can't wait for you to hear from the woman herself! Please enjoy this extra special episode with one of my all-time favorite humans.----more----

Grab a seat (and maybe a few tissues) and join me and my good friend, Nick Warnes, as we hear about his family's journey with fertility and deciding to enter into In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). Nick shares with us how he and his wife, Whitney, came to the decision together, and what it was like to endure the highs and lows of getting good news followed by the heartbreak of getting the worst news any parents can get. But the story doesn't end there for the Warnes! They have a beautiful son, Lee, and are both finding happiness with the blessings they have today. But do they want to give the process another go? You will have to tune in and find out! Thanks Nick for coming on and sharing your story!----more----
