Hu: Tél van, hűs az idő. Budapest csillogó fényeivel büszkén fedett tükörképét pillantja meg a Duna tározó tükrén. Villamosok, buszok, gépkocsik és az emberek, mintha csak hangyák lennének a fenséges épületek alatt.
En: It's winter, the weather is cool. Budapest proudly reflects its sparkling lights on the mirror of the Danube reservoir. Trams, buses, cars, and people seem like ants beneath the grand buildings.

Hu: Belépünk egy különösen vendégváró vendéglátóipari egységbe, a belváros szívében, pár lépésnyire a Bazilikától. Ez a Nyugat. Nem vonatállomás Budapest ezen részén, és nem is kávézó, hanem étterem.
En: We enter a particularly welcoming hospitality establishment in the heart of downtown, a few steps away from the Basilica. This is the West. It's not a train station in this part of Budapest, nor a café, but a restaurant.

Hu: A csendes éjszakában, a légkört a félig kihunyt gyertyák, a finom zeneművek és a finom ételek illata uralja. Egyedül egy fiatal férfit látunk, mögötte nyitott laptopot és dokumentumokat, elmerülve a képernyő fényében.

Hu: A nap éppen a budapesti Várhegy bástyáinak köveit csókolta, amikor László, Eszter és Szilvia, a három jó barát a Labirintus-barlang bejáratához értek.
En: One day, the sun was just kissing the stones of the bastions of Castle Hill in Budapest when László, Eszter, and Szilvia, the three good friends, arrived at the entrance of the Labyrinth Cave.

Hu: Elszántak voltak, kíváncsiak és egy csipetnyi félelem is rejlett a szívük mélyén, ahogy átléptek a barlang komor ajtaján.
En: They were determined, curious, and a hint of fear lurked in their hearts as they stepped through the stern door of the cave.

Hu: A titokzatos, hűvös levegő várta őket, és a történetük innentől kezdve pörgött fel.
En: The mysterious, cool air awaited them, and from that moment on, their story began to unfold.

Hu: Az érthetetlenül zavarodott arcú férfi a térképet bámulta. A papír zizegő hangja keverte úgy a levegőt, mint a reggeli Budapesti szél.
En: The man with a perplexed face was staring at the map. The crackling sound of the paper mixed the air as much as the morning wind in Budapest.

Hu: Az M2 metrónál váratlan fordulatot vett a történet, amikor egy Ferenc körúton álldogáló pizzafutár a képbe került.
En: The story took an unexpected turn at the M2 metro station when a pizza delivery guy standing on Ferenc körút entered the scene.

Hu: Csaba volt a neve, aki valószínűleg észrevette a férfi baját, mert odalépett hozzá. Oldalán ott lógott a pizzás doboz, cipője kopott volt, mintha évek óta ugyanaz jött volna rá.
En: His name was Csaba, who likely noticed the man's dilemma as he approached him. Hanging on his side was a pizza box, his shoes worn out, as if he had been wearing the same ones for years.

Hu: Kellő bátorsággal megkérdezte Csaba: "Segíthetek?". A férfi németül felelt, ami nem okozott problémát Csabának, hiszen volt egy ideje, amikor Németországban dolgozott.
En: With courage, Csaba asked: "Can I help?". The man responded in German, which posed no problem for Csaba, as he had worked in Germany for a while.

Hu: Kiderült, hogy Gergő a neve, és éppen arra a bizonyos nyelvtanra volt kíváncsi, amivel sokan csak a fejüket vakargatják. A magyar nyelv, amely büszkén hirdeti szabályainak hihetetlen bonyolultságát.
En: It turned out his name was Gergő, and he was curious about that particular grammar that many scratch their heads about. The Hungarian language, proudly proclaiming the incredible complexity of its rules.

Hu: Eszter, Csaba barátnője és egyben a helyi középiskola magyar nyelv- és irodalomtanára, épp a közelben vásárolt.
En: Eszter, Csaba’s girlfriend and also the local high school Hungarian language and literature teacher, happened to be shopping nearby.

Hu: Mire Csaba éppen igyekezett megmagyarázni, hogyan kell meghatározni a határozókat vagy épp hogyan változik a rag, hogy az illeszkedjen a szóhoz, Eszter az oldalukon termett.
En: Just as Csaba was trying to explain how to determine adverbs or how the ending changes to match the word, Eszter joined them.

Hu: Némi elmagyarázás után, Eszter beszállt a tanításba, sokkal profibb módszerekkel; egy papírra rajzolt fával és némi szemléltető anyaggal.

Hu: A magas Sas-hegyről pazar a kilátás. A Duna csillagaiban ott tükröződik Budapest szíve. Az ebédidő közeledtével a város lassan beleillan a napfénybe. Az emberek csendes zsongás, lábujjhegyen kelt életre.
En: The view from the high Sas-hegy is magnificent. The heart of Budapest is reflected in the stars of the Danube. As lunchtime approaches, the city slowly blends into the sunlight. The quiet hum of people brings life to tiptoeing around.

Hu: A budai oldalon, a varázslatos Várnegyed utcácskáiban, elrejtve a turisták elől, él Attila. Ő helyi. Erős, mély hangjának minden rezonanciája a Duna-part köveitől pattan vissza. Dacos, tüzes lelkében mag a magyar történelem kavargásáig ér.
En: On the Buda side, in the charming streets of the Castle District, hidden from tourists, lives Attila. He is a local. Every resonance of his strong, deep voice bounces back from the stones of the Danube shore. Defiant, fiery soul where the tumult of Hungarian history meets.

Hu: A másik oldalon, a vibráló Pest szívében, Eszter él. Harmincéves angol nő, aki épp két éve költözött Budapestre. Az ő akcentusa különös, édesen idegen a magyar fülnek. Mostanra már elég biztosan megy neki a magyar, de az akcentusa... az más történet.
En: On the other side, in the vibrant heart of Pest, lives Eszter. A thirty-year-old English woman who moved to Budapest just two years ago. Her accent is peculiar, sweetly foreign to Hungarian ears. By now, she is confident enough in Hungarian, but her accent... that's a different story.

Hu: Attilának van egy terv. Felhívja Esztert, hogy üljenek le egy kávéra a Szamos Gourmet Házban a Vörösmarty téren. Itt elmondja Eszternek, hogy segíteni akar neki tökéletesíteni a magyar nyelvét.
En: Attila and Eszter meet on the Chain Bridge. Attila is sitting on one of the benches when Eszter literally runs into him. Eszter looks at him apologetically with a smile, but she can only say a few words in Hungarian. However, Attila begins to see something in her. A task, an opportunity, perhaps a friend.

Hu: A következő néhány hétben felfedezik Budapestet, újra és újra. Attila viszi Esztert a Zsolnay-kúthoz a Ferenciek terén, bemutatja neki a Váci utca forgatagát, emléket idéz a hőskorban a Millenniumi Emlékműnél. Mindez alatt pedig lelkiismeretesen gyakorolnak. Eszter többször megbukik, de mindig újra kezdi. Távolságuk a bensőség irányába hajlik, mert a nyelv olyan, mint a lelkek hídja.
En: Over the next few weeks, they explore Budapest together, again and again. Attila takes Eszter to the Zsolnay Fountain at Ferenciek Square, shows her the bustle of Váci Street, evokes memories of the heroic era at the Millennium Memorial.
