    Calandrian Simpson-Kemp founded Village of Mothers, a support group for grieving mothers after her 20-year-old son was shot and killed in Houston in 2013. She's a vocal advocate for the gun prevention movement.

    Shannon Watts started Moms Demand Action, a national movement with millions of supporters and local chapters in all 50 states. which started in response to the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary shooting.
