The Italian Wine Podcast began as a storytelling project dedicated to the Italian wine world. It started in March 2017 in the lead-up to major Italian wine events: OperaWine and Vinitaly, and has since become an award-winning show, recognized as one of the most frequently listened-to wine podcasts out there. Italy has more native grape varieties concentrated within its borders than any other country in the world, and Italian wine and grape diversity is a story worth telling. Meanwhile, the popularity of Italian wine continues to grow on an international scale, so, despite our name, our shows are equally geared towards the international wine community. The Italian Wine Podcast aims to inform, educate, and entertain fans through engaging conversations with producers, experts, and personalities of the Italian and international wine scene.

Ep. 754 Valentina Abbona | Wine, Food & Travel With Marc Millon

Ep. 754 Valentina Abbona | Wine, Food & Travel With Marc Millon

Episode 754 Marc Millon interviews Valentina Abonna from Cantine dei Marchesi di Barolo, in this episode of Italian Food & Wine with Marc Millon on the Italian Wine Podcast.

    About today’s guest:
Valentina Abbona, 6th generation at Cantine dei Marchesi di Barolo together with her brother Davide, lives a passionate and profound relationship with wine, which for her is emotion, feeling, history, terroir and - above all - home.
After attending to the Liceo Scientifico in Alba, she moved to Milan where she attended the Bocconi University, where she graduated in Business and Economics. During these years, her personal and professional training grew constantly thanks to various school-exchange programs, which took her from Manchester to Hyderabad (India) and then to New York. Her highly "international" career continues in Shanghai, where she worked for about a year for a niche high-profile consultancy firm.
Meanwhile she was attending university, she also accompanied her mother Anna on her numerous business trips all around the world, which allowed her grasp the most diverse perspectives of the wine business and to exploit them in the perfect crossroads of tradition and innovation represented today by Marchesi di Barolo. Today, Valentina is one of the two female faces of Marchesi di Barolo, together with her mother Anna they carry on the dream of a great woman: Juliette Colbert de Maulévrier, descendant of the Minister of Finance of the Sun King and connoisseur of good wine. Having moved to the Marquis Carlo Tancredi Falletti's estate after her wedding, Juliette immediately sensed the potential of the grapes grown in Barolo: her vision and perception of our lands gave rise to what is now considered the king of wines and, not by chance, the wine of kings.

Ep. 752 Salvatore Salvo & Luciano Pignataro Part 2 Of 2 | On The Road Edition

Ep. 752 Salvatore Salvo & Luciano Pignataro Part 2 Of 2 | On The Road Edition

Welcome to episode 752, another on the Road Edition With Stevie Kim, today she is continuing her conversation with Luciano Pignataro & Salvatore Salvo, owner of Salvo Pizzeria, in Naples, Italy. Join Stevie as she desperately seeks the best Pizza around! This episode is in Italian but if you need an English version, you can always visit www.italianwinepodcast.com/blog and read the script in English!

    About today’s Pizzeria:
Tradition is the basis of the work of Francesco and Salvatore Salvo, from here we start and we always look at this, incessantly, but here we do not stop. For the Salvos, Neapolitan pizza is a culture to be safeguarded and developed and evolved, using all the tools, techniques and knowledge that the world of contemporary gastronomy can offer.
Consequently, the Neapolitan pizza Salvo is necessarily modern, adapted to the advancement of new discoveries in the kitchen, declined according to seasonality and raw materials, enhanced by combinations of refined and carefully studied ingredients, it is Neapolitan pizza today.
Salvatore Salvo and his brother Francesco have been passionately dedicating themselves to their work for years to carry on a tradition that has been handed down for three generations and to do so they started from the basics, studying and working on doughs and cooking, developing gastronomic and entrepreneurial ideas, looking ahead and looking around, not only in the world of pizza, but also in that of food and wine in general, arriving today to become the authoritative and modern voice of contemporary Neapolitan pizza, of the pizza of the future.
