Mother's Day
Tonight, we look to a story featuring a woman named Martha. Martha is not a mother, though she understands the weight of expectation, the pressure to provide, and the exhaustion of running a household. Jesus doesn't minimize her overwhelm, but invites her in closer where she can meet his gaze and experience real reprieve and real joy. What might it look like for each of us, whether we are moms or not, to respond to this invitation?

The Advocate
In the final hours of his last night on earth, Jesus introduces the promise of the Holy Spirit. Knowing he has to leave and that his departure will be devastating for his followers, Jesus intends on comforting them with this news that another Advocate just like him will make his home among them. We consider together how recovering the Spirit's nature and power might be a comfort to us as we face uncertainty, transition, and hardship.

Vines of Connection
What we feel most connected to in life will become the guideposts we reside by. The voices, influences, and connections we remain in is what inevitably begins to shape and form us. Jesus talks about what it means to abide in him and in God, and what it means to be connected to both our Creator and to one another.

Love is Lowly
We’re approaching a significant shift in the timeline of Jesus’ life as it’s told to us in the book of John. Tonight, we find ourselves in chapter 13 just hours before he’ll be dragged away to be crucified. In these last moments with his disciples, Jesus chooses to wash their feet - a shocking demonstration of the kind of love Jesus wants to characterize his people. We revisit this popular narrative with fresh perspective, letting it inform and reshape our ideas of service, sacrifice, and love.

The Smell of Wine and *Expensive* Perfume
The Book of John rolls on with a story about an extravagant show of love from Mary Magdalene, who breaks out expensive perfume to pour on Jesus. Tonight we explore the modern implications of this peculiar story and what it means for us to worship without limitation and without regard for who is watching.
