The Oilers are alive with another chance to extend the series

The Oilers are alive with another chance to extend the series

The Oilers went to Florida and came up with a clutch 5-3 road win in Game 5, extending their series for at least one more game, which meant there was plenty to talk about on the Thursday episode of Real Life. Now the question becomes whether the boys can do it for a third time and force the Panthers into an elimination game of their own.
The Thursday episode of Real Life kicked off with a hilarious discussion about Chalmers' unique eating habits. He confessed to pairing toast with every meal, showcasing his bizarre yet impressive skill of matching the correct number of pieces of bread with the meal. Chalmers has confessed to a lot of interesting habits on this podcast, but this bread talk was just the latest chapter.
Shifting the focus of the podcast back to the Oilers, the guys recapped where they were at during Game 5 and how everyone feels now that the boys were successful in dragging the Panthers back to Alberta. Even though Tuesday's win wasn't necessarily the prettiest win we've ever seen in the history of our fandom, the Oilers managed to grind out a win that could have easily gone the other way. Yet, even with all of that pressure coming their way, the boys found a way to live another day.
Finally, the guys wrapped up the Thursday episode of the podcast by discussing everyone's plans for Friday night. Given that ticket prices are astronomical for Game 6, only Jay and Tyler will be in attendance while the other guys are still figuring out where they're going to watch. Given the stakes at hand, the boys are trying to make the perfect decision as a means of manifesting a huge win.

The Oilers aren't dead yet after huge Game 4 win

The Oilers aren't dead yet after huge Game 4 win

The Oilers kept their Stanley Cup dream alive with a big Game 4 win on Saturday night, which meant there was plenty to talk about on the Thursday episode of the Real Life podcast.
The boys kicked off the Monday episode of Real Life by chatting about how much fun everyone had on Saturday night after the Oilers extended their Cup Final series by at least one more game. Without talking much about what happened on the ice, the boys had to talk about how amazing it was to be in Edmonton on Saturday night. Not only did the team win, but the city was buzzing well into the night after the team secured its first SCF win since 2006.
Turning the conversation back to the Oilers playing their best game of the playoffs, the guys walked through a bunch of the goals scored on Saturday night and how it was, hopefully, the start of the dam starting to burst. Starting with the Mattias Janmark shorthanded goal, the guys couldn't contain their excitement about how the depth came through at such a pivotal moment. Of course, the conversation lasted two seconds before shifting gears to anything other than hockey.
Finally, the podcast wrapped up the podcast with a four-leg squad bet on Game 5 and a story from Tyler about the conclusion of parking gate in his neighbourhood. Now that one of the neighbours has officially moved out, one can only hope that the drama has ended, but you can never be sure how the new personality will fit in.

The weirdest Game 3 preview you'll ever hear

The weirdest Game 3 preview you'll ever hear

The Oilers are only hours away from kicking off Game 3 back at Rogers Place, which meant there was plenty to talk about on the Thursday episode of the Real Life podcast.
The guys started the podcast with a quick recap of the boys' trip to Florida and how everyone was feeling now that the team is back home, down by two games.
Obviously, being in this position was the last thing anybody wanted, but that doesn't mean we should give up hope, either. Down but not out. But as you'd expect, the podcast really fell off the rails in a hurry.
With some shenanigans out of the way, the guys got back to business with a deep dive into the first two games of the series and what went wrong. Whether it's the lack of shots, the power play struggles, or getting stonewalled by Sergei Bobrovsky, there are plenty of ways the Oilers can be better if they're going to get back in this series.
Finally, the guys wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life with a collection of random topics that ranged from changing jerseys after losses to what Chalmers would do if he ever saw Mark Messier out in public. Despite their best efforts to stay on track, the guys really struggled to keep this one on the rails. What else would you expect from the Real Life podcast?

The guys get set for Game 2 & talk about their off-day shenanigans

The guys get set for Game 2 & talk about their off-day shenanigans

The boys are back with a fresh edition of the Real Life Podcast as they’re down in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for the Stanley Cup Final. It’s been a wild couple of days for the boys as they were in attendance for Game 1 of the series and got up to some off day shenanigans.
To kick off the podcast, they did a quick keep it for cut it segment where they discussed the lineup changes that Oilers Head Coach Kris Knoblauch is making ahead of Game 2. For the first time as an Oiler, Cody Ceci is going to be a healthy scratch. They debated if that was the right move, talked about just how frustrating it was to watch the Oilers get shutout by a red hot Sergei Bobrovsky and also talked about the general vibes of Panthers fans so far down in South Florida.
From there, they talked a little bit more about the game and what the Oilers need to do better to win Game 2.
They then shared some tales from their off day as the guys went on a boat with Frank Seravalli for the afternoon. Tyler had a very special experience in the water and told the story of that and was promptly roasted for it. They also saw a truly one of a kind flag in the water.
They wrapped up by building a squad bet for bet365 and got hyped up for Game 2!

The Stanley Cup Final starts in two short days

The Stanley Cup Final starts in two short days

The Oilers are only days away from kicking off the Stanley Cup Final, which meant there was plenty to talk about on the Thursday episode of the Real Life podcast.
The guys kicked off the Thursday podcast with a discussion about the history of Oilersnation and how having the team in the finals is the biggest moment in our company's existence. After so many years of watching horrible hockey, the way this feels for all of us is so indescribably exciting that it's almost difficult to describe.
Changing gears, the guys walked through some of their pre-game superstitions. Whether it's Chalmers wearing the same t-shirts underneath his Mark Messier jersey on game day or Jay wearing his Evan Bouchard bracelet, it's always so funny to see what people are doing to try and help this team move things along.
Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with some of their expectations for the weekend and how they plan on enjoying the moment as best they can even at a time when the anxiety and nerves will be high. The Stanley Cup Final is one of the hardest series in sports to make — let alone win — and that had the fellas feeling grateful just to be able to experience the ride.

Did you know the Oilers are going to the Stanley Cup Final?

Did you know the Oilers are going to the Stanley Cup Final?

The Oilers punched their ticket to the Stanley Cup Final last night in Game 6, and that meant the boys were beyond fired up for the Monday episode of the Real Life Podcast.
The guys started the podcast with a recap of last night's series win over the Stars, where everyone was to watch the game, and what it meant to them. Baggedmilk and Tyler were lucky enough to be at the game, and their perspective on what it was like to be at Rogers Place was very fun to listen to.
Now that the boys are going to the SCF, the guys then talked about their approach to merch for the Stanley Cup Final. For Wanye, the approach was to buy literally every piece of Oilers merch the NHL site had to offer. As soon as the game ended, Wanye kept refreshing the site over and over until everything loaded, and he emptied the clip on every piece of merch he could find.
Finally, the guys wrapped the podcast up by bringing Kennedy in for the last little bit to talk about some new NationGear merch that just dropped, how she's handling the playoff stress, and what she expects from her first time experiencing the Oilers in the finals. In terms of energy, this episode of the podcast was all vibes.
