Just an advert for a subscriber only podcast
First of all I really enjoyed this podcast when it started - genuinely a breath of fresh air and entertaining. Sadly it is has gone rapidly downhill - do they ever actually go 2 minutes without mentioning you can buy a subscription? This has been going on for weeks now and shows no sign of stopping. Of course there’s nothing wrong with having a ‘subscriber only’ option - most podcasts offer it - but they don’t hold out the begging bowl every 2 minutes. It’s become relentless. Perhaps with professional podcast whores Chris Scull and Ellis James it was inevitable this would end up behind a paywall, but the way they have gone about it feels incredibly grubby, cheap and shameless. Almost every talking point brings it back to “oh by the way, did you know can become a subscriber? Well you can!” - usually Ellis doing it in a ridiculously faux, exaggerated way. It’s really disappointing and a missed opportunity. I’m out.
