The Broadcaster And The PR S1 E19

The Broadcaster And The PR S1 E19

Welcome to Series 1 Episode 19 of 'PR Matters - The Public Relations Podcast'.

This is our penultimate episode in Series 1 - The Broadcast And The PR. The second series is out in September and will be even better! Make sure you follow us so you don't miss out!

ALERT: There are sound issues on this podcast but the content is so fab - I had to publish!

Phil Caplin from London-based agency, Broadcast Revolution, gives us his insights into how to pitch to TV. He takes time out of his incredibly busy schedule to talk to PR Matters about how public relations professionals can successfully pitch their clients on to TV and radio. It's just a shame this rare interview doesn't meet the normal broadcast standards as Phil's sound is 'in and out'. Apologies for this.

If you're still eager to listen and this hasn't put you off, you'll learn how to use PR in television environments. What's the best way to get the attention of TV journalists? Is TV still relevant? What's the benefit of getting on to TV? How do you do it?

The Music Manager And The PR S1 E18

The Music Manager And The PR S1 E18

Welcome to Series 1 Episode 18 of 'PR Matters - The Public Relations Podcast' where you'll learn all about music management and how public relations plays a central part in rocketing musical careers.

We talk to legendary music manager Natasha Maddison about her career managing and promoting American funk and soul jazz saxophonist, Maceo Parker, best known for his work with James Brown in the 1960s, Parliament-Funkadelic in the 1970s and Prince in the 2000s. Parker was a prominent soloist on many of Brown's hit recordings, and a key part of his band, playing alto, tenor and baritone saxophones.

What's it like being a music manager and how important is PR in this business? Natasha talks takes us through it and leaves us in no doubt that hard work and commitment is the only way to succeed. Managing the talent's ego is a huge part of the role and for the artist, mastering the ego is a sign of success. The ego gets a bad press - but It's the ego that helps us get out there on stage and perform in the first place. A balance is required.

The Fear of Public Speaking S1 E17

The Fear of Public Speaking S1 E17

Welcome to Series 1 Episode 17 of 'PR Matters - The Public Relations Podcast' where you'll learn how to master the fear of public speaking.

Glossophobia is one of the biggest phobias in the western world! But what causes it? Why are some of us more prone to this fear than others? As a PR you need nuclear levels of confidence, but many lack it. So, how do we get it?

We talk to expert transformational coach, Marcus Matthews, about the brain's ability to be 'debugged' of fears and phobias like public speaking. "We just need to install a new software into the brain," assures Marcus, "and then we won't fear speaking in public ever again."

Marcus says the fear is a feeling that influences the mind and behaviour, and hypnotherapy is the only way to re-programme the mind. It's a fascinating bite-sized episode that answers some deep questions about the human psyche as it relates to the fear of public speaking.
