Thrilling Thursdays with Serial season 4

There I was, one Thursday morning in 2014, deliberately dragging my feet to work. I knew a late arrival meant overtime, but nothing could keep me from the latest episode of Serial. Back then, podcasts were a novelty, and despite my enthusiastic badgering ("You have to listen to Serial!"), I felt like a lone wolf. Even in Australia, known for its vibrant independent audio scene (thanks to ABC Radio National for fostering sound creation!), I couldn't find anyone to share my obsession with Hae Min Lee's case, as Sarah Koenig meticulously unraveled it week after week.
Season two, arriving late in 2015, left me frustrated. The story of Bowe Bergdahl, the American soldier held captive by the Taliban and then charged with desertion, just didn't grab me. By 2018, I didn't even bother with season three's deep dive into the American criminal justice system.
Then came the surprise announcement: season four on Guantanamo Bay. Initially, I wasn't interested. But three weeks in, curiosity won. I binged the first three episodes, captivated just like with any masterful storyteller. It turned out a topic I thought wouldn't interest me could be utterly fascinating.
Now, I'm a devoted listener, eagerly anticipating each episode. I even create "errands" to justify dropping everything and getting lost in the narrative. It's a rollercoaster – gripping, thought-provoking, infuriating (in the best way), and meticulously researched. The presentation is excellent, informative, and the outcome stellar. Serial is simply superb.
