D.K's Cult Classics Episode 18 - "It will tear your soul apart."

We're not sure about your soul, but this month's Cult Classic is such a bumper one that we had to split it into two! In part one DK talks to renowned author and the man whom Clive Barker himself describes as the "resident expert" on Hellraiser, Paul Kane. Join us for a sit down as they talk inspiration, adaptation and just what prompted Mr Kane to become a writer before coming with us for our regular movie review.

In this month's bumper Cult Classics, we take a look at Clive Barker's 1987 theatrical debut and iconic horror movie Hellraiser. Join DK and special guest, author Paul Kane as they do a deep-dive into the movie and talk kitchen-sink drama, special effects creativity, and just why DK's stomach lurches every time he hears someone drain a milkshake dry.

The review itself starts at 01:12:25, if you want to head straight there, but we urge you to check out the interview with Paul. It's a good one!

HoM: Star Trek - "The Defector" & More

HoM: Star Trek - "The Defector" & More

Series 5, Episode 8 - "So, Tobi, what do you think of the big, fat D?"

We're back! Keeping things ticking over with a brand new (monthly) episode of our Romulan-themed series, ahead of the return of weekly episodes very soon. This time we're looking at the Next Generation episode "The Defector". DK is again sitting this one out (he really doesn't like those Romulans!) so Captain Michael is joined by a couple of very special guests, both opening a channel from Germany coincidentally enough. Firstly we have first-time guest Elle, a self-confessed huge Trek/sci-fi geek from the golden generation of the 70s & 80s. Also joining is first-time Trek guest, but multiple-time Silver Screen Podcast guest, Tobi. He's been challenged to watch his very first full episode of Trek and share his thoughts. Will he love or hate this tale of Romulan intrigue, spy antics and double-crossing? All this plus the usual Trek introductory briefing and a short Hit or Miss section. So turn off that Shakespeare program, ignore the ship blowing up outside the window and pay close attention to this intriguing episode...

1:00 - Intros & Hailing Frequencies Open (connections to Trek and Elle's many contextual favourite things)
25:00 - Hit or Miss section
40:40 - Begin Analysis (Behind the Scenes of the episode)
    44:01 - Episode Review

Silver Screen Podcast - Terminator 2: Judgment Day Review

Episode 77 - "I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle"

Well, our intended guest for this episode got lost in the time stream so this episode you're left with the podcast veterans "Mike-800" and "DK-1000" (Cyberdyne Podcaster Models 101). But if you thought it would be a lighter, shorter episode then whoo boy are you in for a surprise. We're following up last year's review of 'The Terminator' by looking at the hugely famous and influential sequel 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day', and our dynamic duo have a LOT to say about it. There's a miniature deep dive into the making of the film, a thorough review, an examination of the groundbreaking effects, the deep science-fiction plotting, the moral lessons, the iconic lines and so much more including a look at the various special editions. So "come with us if you want to listen" to a discussion of arguably the greatest sequel ever made. "Hasta la vista, baby!"

D.K's Cult Classics Episode 17 - "Ah, they're young: young people don't have too much fear..."

This month DK is joined by returning guest Nigel AKA the Kaiju Whisperer, as they take a look at arguably the most respected, yet undicovered gem from the world of Toho: The War of the Gargantuas. What will the Cult Classics team make of Gaira and Sanda... or Russ Tamblyn, for that matter? Hopefully their words won't get stuck in their throat.
