We had a deep and joyful talk with Junior Soma from Made in Germany Podcast. This episode can be summarized as the power of listening. Because the way he listens creates magic in this space!
Why do we interview Junior Soma?
Normally Education is associated with school or universities. But nowadays if we think of adult education or life learning--which can happen any time and anywhere, then education is also about personality development, maturation, broadening of horizons and overcoming prejudices. In this sense for me Made in Germany Podcast is an informal educational space at least for three reasons:
First, Made in Germany Podcast gives space to people who don't have space to talk, who have unpopular ideas and biographies. This is already learning for most of the people in Germany who hear such voices for the first time.
Secondly, people with similar biographies like the guest, see in them a role model--someone who has achieved something in the same conditions as they have grown up or live today, so they get empowered and motivated.
And the space itself is a decolonized space where people are threatened with respect, kindness. Junior Soma’s understanding, eye level and empathy towards guests and listeners creates a pleasant atmosphere of giving and taking which is the way how we in education enable growth. This is a condition people need to flourish. I dont think someone who does not have an attitude like Junior’s could motivate guests in this way to share so authentically and to open up!
