Welcome to the seventh episode of What the 'Beep' do you know about learning English? This podcast is for intermediate to advanced learners of English. Some teachers might find it interesting too. The podcast aims to provide different perspectives on learning English and at the same time develop our listeners' language skills.
In this episode, we introduce a new format: Smashing Sledgehammers (don’t worry we’ll still being having interviews but every second episode from now on). Amy and Damien look at our teachers’ English language learning tips and review an online tool connected to that learning tip. If the tool is any good it could be just thing for you to use to improve your English
Today we revisit Jamie’s tips to learn English and review a tool called “Language Learning with Netflix”. If you like to binge on Netflix but don’t how to learn English by doing this then keep listening!
After introducing the tool, we review it using the three criteria below:
1) Pedagogy: Is this tool based on good teaching methods and research or are they making claims they can’t support?
2) User Experience: How easy or hard is it to use this online tool? Is there a good help page? Are the controls complicated? And so on.
3) Language Learning Potential: How much can a student of English get out of this tool? Will this tool make you more efficient learner of English.
