Don Rideout is a member of the California Native Plant Society – San Diego Chapter. Born and raised in Ventura County, he moved to the Escondido Creek watershed in 1989 and has worked for 28 years in city government in a variety of capacities, but considers his crowning achievement to be a coastal sage scrub conservation plan that was approved in 2004. Now retired, he volunteers at Batiquitos Lagoon and Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, and is an avid iNaturalist photographer who aspires to capture photos of every plant in our region.
