The news that Iñigo Calderón had been appointed as the new Under 18s head coach at Brighton was met with near-universal approval amongst Albion fans last summer. He looks perfectly suited to the role for all manner of reasons which extend well beyond playing 232 times for Brighton between 2010 and 2016.
As a player, Calderón left an indelible mark on the game with his tenacity, tactical acumen and leadership on the field. His transition from a seasoned footballer to a burgeoning coach mirrors his innate understanding of the beautiful game.
