    112. Strategic Communication

    112. Strategic Communication

    112. Strategic Communication
In today’s episode, we are going to talk about strategic communication.
What I mean by that is the type of conversation where you are trying to influence someone to do something or align with you on what you want to do. However you need to plan this out strategically, you can’t just wing it if you want it to go well.
Think about a few different things when you are planning a conversation that involves a big program, project, organizational changes, new strategy or alignment. To have success in these conversations, you need to look at the person first. It will help you plan for it and actually execute it in a better way.
    In this episode:
Plan out your conversations strategically using some key questions that help you position the conversation in the best way to get results.
If you want to get a yes from the person you are influencing, you need to plan out the conversation in advance.
What do you know about the person or persons that you need to meet with?
Think about what you need from them.
How will you position the conversation?
    What do you do post-meeting?
This type of conversation can provide a great deal of visibility for you and planning it out ensures that the conversation will be well received so you get great feedback and are thought of for future opportunities.

    111. What Are You Tolerating?

    111. What Are You Tolerating?

    111. What Are You Tolerating?
On this episode we are talking about the things that you are tolerating, how it impacts your energy and your opportunities to do more in your career and life. To give you some context about what I mean, here are some examples of tolerations: things in your life or work environment that are irritating, people who don’t treat you right, and situations that frustrate you.
What is a toleration, you ask?  These are the things that stress you out every day, but they haven’t caused you enough “pain” to make a change to them yet. Why is this important? They take your energy away, which can make you feel negative, irritated, skeptical or even angry. That prevents you from being your best self for you, your family, friends, and co-workers. People can feel those negative emotions from you. It can impact how others perceive you and impact opportunities for success.
    In this episode:
Walked through an example of something very common that you might be tolerating.
Reviewed examples of the different types of tolerations you may want to consider eliminating.
What do you do when you are tolerating a bad manager or workplace?
What does holding on to negative situations do to you?
How can you let negativity go?
Example of how taking things personally can break relationships.
Choosing your response when things go wrong can make all the difference.
What are you carrying around that you need to let go of?

    108. Letting Go to Embrace Something New

    108. Letting Go to Embrace Something New
Today’s episode is about letting go. We have opportunities to let go of things (and perhaps people) that don’t serve us anymore. We struggle with it because we grew up with messages that told us we need to make it work. Keep trying to make it work and if you don’t you are a failure. You should give it your best effort, but if it doesn’t work out, that is okay. I am here to tell you that letting go may be the better option. It is easier and so much more empowering for you to live your life that way.
    In this episode:
A story of letting go of your dream career.
What if letting go of something helps bring what you want to you faster?
Making the hard decision to leave your role when the pain is too much to stay
A dream scenario that is the opposite of a negative experience.
Multiple stories of people who let go and got more than they dreamed.
Choosing your value and letting go of somewhere that doesn’t appreciate you.
Letting go can create an amazing opportunity for you.
You can’t move forward until you let go.

    107. Acceptance is a Choice

    107. Acceptance is a Choice
Today’s episode is about acceptance. In general, acceptance refers to the act of agreeing to or consenting to something. You can look at acceptance from multiple angles, but today we are going to focus on the acceptance of a situation, another person, and yourself. When change occurs, you have a choice. You can resist it and wish it wasn’t happening or you can choose acceptance and move forward. It can bring new opportunities and possibilities that you couldn’t have imagined if you can be open to it.
    In this episode:
    What does acceptance mean?
How does someone go through the phases of change to get to acceptance?
    What makes acceptance so difficult?
Why is it important to accept someone new into your team or organization?
What can happen to people who don’t feel accepted?
Do you accept yourself for who you are?
Your imperfections make you unique, accept and embrace them.
