Dr. Robert Glover: Why "Nice Guys" Struggle Getting The Love They Want | EP 19 Heart of Man

    • Mental Health

Dr. Robert Glover is a renowned therapist, speaker, coach and the author of the best-selling book „No More Mr. Nice Guy“

Over the last 4 decades, Dr. Glover has been shedding light on the phenomenon he describes as „Nice Guy Syndrome“ and has helped countless men across the globe in the realms of life, sex and relating.

Now, you may ask yourself:

„What's the problem with being a nice guy?“

Well, this is something that Dr. Glover and I explore deeply in in this conversation.

We come to explore his own journey of discovering his nice guy tendencies, how nice guys are formed and why this protective strategy is a terrible foundation to initiate a relationship from.

From there, we transition into a deep dive around love and relating. And for anybody who's listening in, I highly encourage you to listen to the end, where he shares his own insights around heartbreak that left a lasting impact on me.

When I first envisioned this podcast, one of my dreams was to to have Dr. Glover come on my show, as he's profoundly impacted my own life through his book and work. And I did my best not to shy away from my own Anxiety and Shame that kicked in as soon as Robert agreed to come on my show, which led to a beautiful discussion on how we can move through internalized shame and soothe our anxiety.

Having spent an hour and a half in conversation with him, I can confidently say that he didn't disappoint and I deeply admired his humility, authenticity, humor and welcoming nature.

This was an incredibly insightful conversation and I highly recommend tuning into this interview with a man who, after 4 decades of working with men, is still going stronger than ever.

In the following conversation Dr. Glover and I cover following topics:
