But what is at the core of the enigma of this island and how did this unique culture come to be? What force draws visitors time and time again to this magical tropical island in the middle of the Indian ocean? Lets take a journey into it's history and culture.

Episode 7 - Balinese family traditions and the rites of passage
In this episode we will discover all of the important events and ceremonies from birth to death of an individual on Bali. Baby touching the ground for the first time, first haircut, coming of age, teeth filing, matrimony, and cremation. We will also learn about the Kanda Emput - four sibling spirits which accompany each person through their lives. Rice consumption, cultivation and veneration will be explained in great detail.

Episode Six - Balinese Hinduism and local customs
In this episode we explore a unique version of Hinduism only practiced on the island of Bali. We will discuss the significance of Agama Tirta - or the holly water to the Balinese rituals, and the Hindu legend of the elixir of life. Witchcraft and all of the connected superstitions will be explained in detail. And we will conclude this episode with an explanation of cockfighting ceremonies. By the end of this episode one might become an experienced witch or a cockfighter or both.
