William Bill Cooper was known as the Godfather of Modern Conspiracies and his life’s work served as the inspiration for the hit TV series, “The X Files.” But when his book “Behold a Pale Horse” became publicly available to read, it introduced the public to a previously unseen underbelly of “patriot” based conspiracy theories which demonized the United States government. As Americans unraveled under threats of terrorism and violence, his radio show, “The Hour of Time” became a beacon of alternative news. Bill claimed JFK was murdered by aliens, condemned the FBI for being involved in the Oklahoma City Bombing, and even predicted the 911 terrorist attacks. But it would be his staunch defense of his right to form a militia that would eventually lead to his undoing.
