ROBOTS INTO GUYS is a biweekly media analysis podcast about the Transformers franchise and how gay it is. Join one man, his partner, and his college roommate as they attempt a critique of the Queer coding in this beloved series and make jokes about Auto-Butts and Dick-cepticons. The bots are back in town, baby!
Robots Into Guys Episode 16: CASTLE TRUCK
The Season 1 finale of Transformers Generation 1 was filled with tears, shocking reveals and heartbreaking drama. JK, it was just about some fucking trucks.
On the final episode of the first season, the R.I.G. crew closes the book on OptiTron. There’s just too much work they need to do on themselves, y’know? David outlines a theory about the names of the Constructicons, Jordan turns a specific animation error into a new area of begrudging affection, and Gege reminisces about a paleontology birthday party. This is all without mentioning the greatest instance of synchronicity between real-life partners David and Gege. It has to be heard to be believed.
We’re planning a special one-off to celebrate the completion of Season 1, and it’ll take a little more work than usual, so make sure you follow @RobotsIntoGuys on Instagram for all the updates on that unique project. As always, leave us a 5-star review on the podcast app of your choice. Thanks!!
Robots Into Guys Episode 15: Bug Stuff in the Bible
The penultimate episode of Season 1 is the first one without Starscream, which may be why we don’t have that much to talk about with this one. Bring our bratty boy back home. I mean, Optimus Prime threw a boat-ass boat at Megatron near the end. That was kind of rad. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves.
On this episode, the R.I.G. crew drops everything for an ending-stage Bachelor scenario starring everyone’s favorite winged mensch, Skyfire, and mull over the chosen family imagery surrounding the Autobot clan. David forgets Eric Idle’s name and laughs at dad jokes, Jordan pitches a new meme format, Gege rushes to Rumble’s defense, and much, much more. Well, not that much more, but that ought to be enough. Greedy.
We’ll be back in 2 weeks with the Season 1 finale of our Gen 1 coverage. Please be sure to follow the podcast over on IG @RobotsIntoGuys and leave your five-star reviews on the podcast app of your choice. Thanks!!
Robots Into Guys Episode 14: Hold Me Like a Gun
Y’all, I know we usually get pretty wild on this show, but I’m telling you right now, this one is supremely messy from beginning to end. We’re approaching the end of the first season of G1, and it’s wearing on us. Our collective sanity is dwindling. Send help.
On this episode, the R.I.G. crew muses on the flirty fights of Optimus and Megatron, and explains why Starscream would have made a horrible co-worker to Jetfire. Jordan unveils a new segment inspired by CW primetime soaps, David gets in his Virgo feelings, and Gege has a sudden change of heart when confronted with the new and improved Dr. Archeville.
We’ll be back in 2 weeks with another episode. In the meantime, remember to follow the R.I.G. crew on Instagram @RobotsIntoGuys and leave us a 5-star review on your podcast app of choice. Thanks!!
Robots Into Guys Episode 13: I Saw The Brawn
Once again, we find ourselves at the end of an arc, and this one was fairly painless. This episode has everything: extreme sports action, intergenerational reconciliation, mutiny... You’ll love it. Bring the whole family.
On this episode, the R.I.G. crew wraps up their analysis of the brainwashing allegory and attempts to suss out Megatron’s “type.” David explains why Reflector is a great therapist, Jordan finally comes around to appreciating Ironhide and Gege pulls back the curtain and reveals the true purpose of the podcast. All this, and the sordid story of a cyborg OC that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
We’ll be back in 2 weeks with another episode. So close to finishing Season 1. Let’s do this. Make sure to follow the crew @RobotsIntoGuys on IG and leave a 5-star review on the podcast app of your choice. Thank you!!
Robots Into Guys EP12 : DILF Minions Redux
Not gonna lie, this is probably our messiest episode yet. We didn’t have a whole lot to talk about in this one (thanks, Dino-Bots), so we turned on each other. It’s Part 2 of this arc, and we’re already getting sick of Spike moping around.
On this episode, the R.I.G. crew finally unanimously agrees on something. (Hint: It has to do with Jetfire and how much of a good boy he is.) David discusses the nihilism of the Dino-Bots, Jordan obsesses over a choice music cue and Gege explains why they ship Bumblebee and Spike. Also, the crew somehow discusses the Teen Titans franchise? You’re going to dig this one.
In 2 weeks, we’re finishing this arc, so in the meantime, follow the crew @RobotsIntoGuys on IG and leave us a 5-star review to show your support for the show. Thank you!!
Robots Into Guys EP11 : Shockwave’s Hot Pink Boyfriend
CW: Discussion of parental abuse
It took us 11 episodes but we finally did it, gang... Our first OC. He’s really tall, he’s hot pink, he turns into a vibrator and we’re pretty sure his name is Oliver. Please give him all your love and support.
It’s Part 1 of the first 3-part arc since the pilot, and we’ve got a lot to discuss. Jordan posits that the episode is a dark allegory for generational ideological schisms, David rebrands himself as “Mr. David Sunstreaker” before remembering his allegiance to trusty Ironhide, and Gege plans to launch their Queer reading of the SpongeBob franchise, “Pineapple Under The Me.” Oh yeah, and there’s much rejoicing over Megatron’s choice in sex dolls. It’s a wild ride.
We’ll be back in 2 weeks with Part 2 of the arc, so by then it won’t be Pride Month anymore. Therefore, once again, we wish you all a Happy Pride Month! Please subscribe and leave a 5-star review!
