CE Solution – Best Education Course!
In this episode, Dr. Kuba and Bethany talk about the various disappointments in continuing education courses and dental conferences. It is difficult to find a course or conference that meets everyone’s needs, and it is even harder to justify the cost involved in these classes. Often, practice owners will limit down the number of team members they invite simply because the results of the course often do not justify the cost. Implementation is another difficulty with CE courses. Even if the team gets super fired up at the course, the implementation is dismal on the backend. This causes practice owners to wonder if they should have even invested in the event. Finally, Dr. Kuba quizzes Bethany on her out-of-the-box idea on what she believes is going to be the best education course – a 2-day consulting crash course designed for ONLY one office at a time. Exciting!

It is often the foundation of stress, the things we dread the most – legal issues. Often times, the things that keep dentists up at night are the fears of being sued for something, anything. In this episode, Dr. Kuba and Bethany discuss multiple real-life scenarios. First, they discuss being caught in the middle of a divorce case where Dr. Kuba was called as a witness. She reminds listeners of the importance of knowing the laws and abiding by them when it comes to court decrees, custody, and HIPAA. Second, Dr. Kuba shares about a time when she nearly got scammed. The uncanny details of what the scam artist knew where enough to fool Dr. Kuba. So, listeners, pay attention! Finally, she and Bethany discuss what to do when sued. Although it is not a fun subject matter, it is critical to have some context so that YOU are prepared when one of these strange situations potentially lands in your lap.

Excessive Time Off Requests and Absences
100% of Bethany’s clients have struggled with attendance issues on their teams. Either an employee is chronically late, often asks to leave early, or is simply absent chronically. In this episode, Bethany reminds listeners that some requests to be off should be met with a no. She describes scenarios that could potentially incur an automatic “no” to the request. She also encourages listeners to create boundaries that they can enforce such as requiring a request to be submitted 30 days in advance. Practice owners should also consider a list of probable “consequences” for excessive absenteeism. Finally, Bethany reminds listeners that compassion is critical in handling this trend, but boundaries are just as important.
