The Atlanta Falcons had a very strange offseason and now it comes with a significant penalty
-The Falcons signed Kirk Cousins to a massive 4-year, $180 million contract ($100 million guaranteed) at the start of free agency, and after further review, the NFL punished the team with a $250,000 fine and a loss of their 2025 5th round draft pick
-This is the same team---already with Kirk Cousins on the roster---that drafted Michael Penix, Jr. in the first round

College Football could be entering another new weird phase: The Big 12 is considering selling its naming rights and rebranding the league
-It was a big news day for the Big 12 yesterday, as the conference is apparently considering selling the naming rights to generate millions of dollars into the conference; the first of its kind in college sports
-Conference USA is apparently looking for a similar type of deal; also, the Big 12 is exploring a $1 billion deal with a private equity firm.

Is it too much for Husker fans to ask for one upset in a college football season? A look at their performances in such games indicate it might be too much indeed
-Nebraska football, since 2011, is 1-29 in games they were 7+ point underdogs in (the lone win: 2022 at Iowa…led by Bill’s defense!). That 2015 Michigan State win? They were only 5 point underdogs in it
-You’ll likely only have one game this season (Ohio State) where Nebraska is a 7+ point underdog, unless USC gets it rolling ahead of that game in November. Do we realize how bad it’s been against better teams?
-Also, Josiah Allick is sticking around the Nebrasketball program as a graduate assistant…his energy could be infectious on the sidelines
