03. Violet Evergarden Pt. 1 Episodes 1-4 Hooray for Anime

    • TV & Film

Violet Evergarden (2018) is a Netflix-hosted anime series which revolved around a girl (Violet) who was once considered to be nothing more than a tool for war. Born and raised on the battlefield, Violet does not know of the comforts of life, compassion, and above all else, what love truly means. After the war is over, Violet must assimilate to a ‘normal’ life, and learn how to become an everyday citizen. She takes up a job as a writer – referred to as ‘Dolls’, often for those who are trying to get in touch with the ones they’ve lost contact with during the war. The series focuses on her struggles to learn what it means to be human, and the friends (and foes) she meets along her journey.

In this episode of Hooray for Anime, we’ll be discussing episodes 1-4 of Violet Evergarden:

1. “I Love You” and Auto Memory Doll"
2. “Never Coming Back”
3. “May You Be an Exemplary Auto Memory Doll”
4. “You Won’t be a Tool, but a Person Worth of that Name”

Where to find Violet Evergarden: Netflix, though it originally started as a Manga series (which is not discussed in this series of episodes)

What’s up next: After this episode, we’ll be doing an Episode 2 for Violet Evergarden which covers episodes 5-9 of the series. Be sure to check those out!
