Meditation: Courage and Confidence--The Bear (Becoming‪)‬ Morning Meditation for Women

Close your eyes,
and gather yourself
at your center.

PAUSE

Take a deep breath,
and with that breath,
allow peace and calm
to fill your center.

PAUSE

And, as you continue breathing,
feel an immense strength
filling your body.

Keep breathing,
and allow yourself
to transform
into a powerful bear.

PAUSE

As the bear,
you have fuzzy fur
and long, sharp claws
that you pause
and scratch against a tree.

You open your mouth,
And deep, gravelly growl sounds,
a growl with power and past pain.

PAUSE

Your Bear eyes are deep brown,
and soulful.
And they see the forest in full color.
And your ears hear all the sounds:
big and small.

PAUSE

As you lumber through the woods,
there’s a sense of independence
that is strong in you–
a sense that you can do it.

PAUSE

After a while,
you come upon an unfamiliar area.
You pause, breathe and reflect
on what to do.

PAUSE

You stare at the unfamiliar terrain,
until a surge of courage and confidence
rushes through you.

With fierce independence,
you move into the unknown space–
a space you never thought you would
dare to go.
But this time…you know you will be alright.
You are the Bear.

PAUSE

After a while, 
you stop and rest.
And you notice that,
as the Bear,
There is a feeling of introspection,
of going deep inside.

Allow yourself to stay in that place and reflect.

PAUSE

Now, take a deep breath,
and come back to the here and now.
And once back,
touch your center,
and let yourself feel 
that inner courage–
that strength and independence–
all of which allowed you, as the Bear,
to strike out on your own
for a new adventure.

PAUSE

Breathe again,
and allow the Bear’s 
courage and confidence
to blend with your energy,
to become part of your soul.

And know that you have what it takes
to face fear,
to face the unfamiliar
to face your own self-doubt.

Because going forward,
You are, and always will be, The Bear.
