"Do research. Look into how important bugs are, look into how cool they are, how pretty they are, and why you should care about them. That's a big part of my work, pushing to see them in a new light, to have them seen outside of the creepy crawlies that you don't want to touch. I really want to encourage people to take a closer look. Even house flies...as nasty as they are...are actually quite beautiful. Next time you see a fly, see if you can see what color it is, look at its pattern, maybe even Google why flies are important to the ecosystem."

“Moving here, in my mid 20’s really truly experiencing a culture shock as far as diversity goes, and people being very confused by me, even more so than back in New Jersey. People ask me ‘Where are you from, from?’ or ‘You’re so exotic’...I hate that word..I’m not a plant, I’m not a bird, I’ve been characterized as a wild animal so many times… And then people say ‘No, no, it’s a compliment!’. No, what you’re saying is that I don’t belong here…”
