Mind blown!

After hearing Adam Savage speak highly of this podcast I tried it and I'm mind blown! It's like hearing my own brain speak. Everything Russ speaks about seems to resonate and things started to click into place.

If you are an adult with ADHD I can highly recommend it, just beware: you might start binging it... 😉

This guy gets it

Me, a very serious and sedate person: I don’t think I can handle this guy’s delivery.
10 binged episodes later: Ok, fine, I’ll admit it, this is exactly what the inside of my brain sounds like.

I’ve listened to a lot of ADHD podcasts (because I have ADHD and the only way I know to keep my brain from spinning off scenarios while doing laundry, working out, cooking, etc., is to occupy it with a podcast). This one has become my favorite. I can totally relate to the feelings of worthlessness, etc., that he talks about, and they were sending me barrelling towards depression until I was diagnosed 5 years ago at the age of 41. When you’ve lived that long with self-defeating mental habits, it takes a lot to unlearn them, and the host has a lot of clever tricks, and also criticism of some clever tricks that, yeah, didn’t work for me, either, so that’s validating. And he’s also really good with the kind of pep talk that gets around your cynicism by acknowledging that it’s there and actually addressing it. There are a lot of ADHD podcasts out there, but none of them address the depression angle with the amount of honesty, and vulnerability, as this one, and it’s incredibly helpful.

I actually opened the actual Apple podcast app for the first time in years to review this (I usually use a 3rd party app), and I had to do a bunch of fiddling to figure out how to leave a review, so you can take the fact I did all that as some further proof that I’m finding this particular podcast valuable.
