To Slice Or To Dunk? That Is The Question.

To Slice Or To Dunk? That Is The Question.

On this episode, I have a question for you; well, a few questions, to be exact. 1) What's your favorite cookie? 2) What's your favorite kind of cake? And 3) Ever thought about combining the two and what that would be like? Not saying that's what we're doing on this episode, but...that's what we're doing on this episode. Fingers crossed...and we're we go!

By now you probably know that sound because it’s a classic. Yes, we have one snack combining two favorite classics. Ok, the smell is pretty on-point; subtle, but on-point. Let’s see what the taste is. The taste is on-point for what the flavor is. I don’t like it, but it’s on-point for what the flavor is. But, it tastes gritty and I’m like…why? What’s in this? So we can talk about it, here’s what it is: Oreo Carrot Cake. Carrot cake flavored cookie with cream cheese frosting. It doesn’t feel or taste like there’s actually carrots in it or bits of carrots in it. I think the grittiness comes from the cookie or maybe there are like bits and pieces of carrot in the cookie. I don’t know, it’s a little disturbing, but the crème is smooth and flavorful; that’s kinda tasty. Well, there you have it; that’s what it is: Oreo Carrot Cake.

Make sure you're subscribed and I'll see you next time here on Guess That Taste! Thanks for tuning in.

    Rich But Not Too Rich

    Rich But Not Too Rich

We're back with another classic product, a new classic flavor, and a slightly modified twist. Let's go!

Does that sound give it away? I'll give you another hint: If you've seen the YouTube show that accompanies this podcast -- P.S.: The YouTube show is called Blank This Show -- then you'll know that I've tried another flavor of this product before and I was informed that I was eating it incorrectly; like you don't nibble, you just put the whole thing in your mouth....so, I'm going to try that.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but this is a good combination. It's rich, but not too rich, and rich to the point where you almost get a slightly different flavor that what it is, but it doesn't go all the way there. I'm feeling this!

Tired of wondering what it is, I'll tell you: Oreo Thins Dark Chocolate. I know...O-M-G. A nice, splendid surprise, because if you've seen the YouTube show, then you'll know some of them have not gone over quite as well. Again, that show is called Blank This Show.

Hmmm, I wonder what we'll try next time? Not sure yet, but subscribe so you don't miss that episode and we'll see you soon on Guess That Taste.

    Don't Use A Toaster

    Don't Use A Toaster

We're back with another classic snack, another classic flavor, in a brand new offering. Are you ready? Let's go!

Smell test! This one's hard to smell and I don't wanna sniff too hard because I don't want anything going up my nose. It's really sweet and hard to describe because I don't know what it's really supposed to be, but you don't get any of the flavor that it's intended to be except the sweetness and just like the real slight hint of the flavor. I, also, don't think you're supposed to heat it; which for this one I did not, but for the next one I'm going to try I did heat it, so we'll if that works.

And when I say heat it, I toasted it..well, broiled it really, 'cause it won't do right in a traditional toaster. And broiling it really helps, it makes it crunchy, and it brings out more of the flavor so it really feels as if you're hitting on something; makes it more of a fulfilling experience.

Now, I'm pretty sure you're wondering: well, what is it? It's Pop-Tarts Crisps Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamazing. Now, I'm not sure about the cinnamazing part, but toast it and you'll get a more fulfilling experience from it. Makes it really feel like a treat; something you can see yourself snacking on...like a dessert for your breakfast.

Thanks for joining. See you next time on Guess That Taste!

Can It Melt In Your Mouth?

Can It Melt In Your Mouth?

In this round I'm trying something that's not exactly a new idea, because people have been making it at home for years. But since people are people, mmm hmmm…it's now a product.   A product that combines some of people's favorite things (and no, it is not trail mix). So, are you ready? Let’s go!

Give it a little shake, shake, shake.

You know what it is? Of course you don’t.

    Okay, gotta open it.

    Gotta do the smell test.

The smell is weird; can’t really describe it. We’re just gonna hope for the best.

Okay, I’m trying to think of how to describe this because it’s really just uneventful; nothing mind blowing. Nothing like “I gotta have it.” But, it’s really just what you expect it to be.

Care to guess what it is? I’ll tell you: It’s Candy Pop Popcorn made with M&M's Minis Candy. So, as I said, people have been making this at home for years….and you can do the same thing. Get you some fresh popped popcorn, add in your favorite M&M’s; personally, I love the peanut M&M’s, ‘cause you know…gotta get those nuts! But that’s all you gotta do for this. Also, side note: it has…the popcorn is also drizzled with chocolate but then it has the M&M’s Minis mixed in; that’s a messy combination. Because you know depending on where you are, how the traveling is; the chocolate can melt. So, the inside of this bag is a hot mess. The popcorn also tastes a little bit stale, but it’s still within the expiration date. It’s a decent treat, but again, you can make this yourself at home.

I dip. You dip. We dip?

I dip. You dip. We dip?

First off, I’m concerned because I don’t think today’s product is a new product; and yet, no one has told me about it and also because I think it’s one of those products that should always be refrigerated. But, it’s a shelf product and it clearly says “refrigerate after opening.” Now, that also is like clearly concerning to me because based on the look, the name, and what I assume to be the main ingredient...uh huh, they all say REFRIGERATOR to me. Speaking of which, what is the main ingredient on this thing? Hold please.

Water? Ewww.  They put water in this!? That’s already gross. This should be real interesting. Mmmm. Ok, let’s go for it!

Ok, the look is not appealing. It smells good, though. Mmm. Ok. Let’s see what the taste is. Side note: I almost stuck my finger in here, but I’m gonna be classy…I got a spoon.

Mmm. It tastes good. It is good! Okay! Now, it does have a little kick to it and I’m not a spice person and this does not say spicy. But, if you are a spicy person, this wouldn’t bother you. It’s just like, again, I’m not a spicy person, but…umm…I’m here for this. Let me try it with a little somethin’-somethin’ else extra…I got a chip. Mmm Hmmm. Yo! Y’all been holding out on me. This is good! It’s rich, it’s creamy, it’s not watery, and that kick…that spiciness really sets it off.

And I bet this could go with a bunch of other stuff, too. That chip I tried it with…I gotta get another one. Truly one of my favorite chips ever; but it’s the Tostitos Hint-of-Lime Tortilla Chips. Yo, we got a winner! I’m here for this; I still feel like it should be refrigerated, though, but that’s just me.

And I guess you’re wondering what it is, so, I will go ahead and tell you as soon as I’m able to stop eating; which right now I can’t. So, Tostitos Avocado Salsa. We got a winner! Go out, run out, get you some!

As you can tell, I can’t stop eating, so don’t forget to subscribe to the podcast, so you’ll get notified for the next sampling of Guess That Taste.

    Does Size Matter?

    Does Size Matter?

This pandemic is killing me softly, so this round is another result of one of those hunger attacks where I just had to bust open a snack that was supposed to be for an episode. But, it happened and we’re here and it’s yet another remixed classic. But, this one is the perfect size for a nibble; you just pop it in your mouth. Which is exactly what I did because it’s the same flavor as the original, but in a snackable size. So, you know…perfect! However, I guess no one realized that taste can change when the size changes.

So, these Frosted Strawberry Pop-Tarts BITES taste more like a frosted strawberry strudel than a Pop-Tart. Pop-Tarts are flat and thin with like a thin layer of filling and more of a like a rigid, doughy crust. These bites are tiny, but thicker and they are softer so they have more filling on the inside as well, now that gives it this unsettling almost gag-inducing taste. Here’s a little cheat I did, though: I put them in the refrigerator for about an hour and it does help, just a little bit, but not to the point where I’m going to recommend you run out and try these (especially if you haven’t already) because I don’t want you to feel aggravated and assaulted just from being underwhelmed.
