Bem Joiner: From booking early shows for Drake , Ted Talks, to proving Nike WRONG, It's clear that Atlanta Influences Everything

Bem Joiner: From booking early shows for Drake , Ted Talks, to proving Nike WRONG, It's clear that Atlanta Influences Everything

Hello, my fellow humans helping humans! Today we are going to be talking about the ATL. Why the ATL? What does that have to do with anything? It has to do with EVERYTHING because haven't you heard? ATL INFLUENCES EVERYTHING.
Today we are speaking with BEM JOINER. Bem Joiner is a cultural curator, civic leader, 2021 Fellowship Selection Advisory Committee and co-founder of the lifestyle brand, Atlanta Influences Everything. His brand not only highlights Atlanta but uses its influence to help Atlanta through civic work on Thursdays giving the people food to feed their families and neighbors, with essential items like protein, veggies, fruits, milk, etc. His brand is huge you may have seen a couple of celebrities and politicians wear this brand with pride as well as some popups or collaborations.
This podcast is pretty long but in this particular episode, it will feel as though you and I and Bem are just sitting on the porch having a conversation about what's happening in our backyard.  We are going to walk down memory lane of what Atlanta once was and what it is now. We start with Bem's family history and his neighborhood and how that informs his actions today. He talks about his original love: music, How he booked the early shows of Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and the Goodie Mob reunion. He speaks about the stark contrast of paths with being an entrepreneur vs a doctor. We discuss how Rohit Malhotra from the Center for Civic Innovation reminded him to be himself for his Ted Talk. And one of the coolest things we talk about is how Nike told him that Atlanta was NOT a top-tier market, and Bem showed them just how wrong they are and the birth of his brand journey began.

Johari Dozier: The Dirty Truth Behind Why Kids Underperform or are Absent from School

Johari Dozier: The Dirty Truth Behind Why Kids Underperform or are Absent from School

Hello my fellow humans helping humans! Today we are talking about hygiene . We have either been bullied in school for our hygiene issues OR have been the bully ourselves. Let's be honest. Somebody in school had a nickname because they stunk! As we grow up we know that  there are issues with people starving or not eating enough and lucky there are some options where the government supplements that. But  as we all know as an adult cost of living and purchasing everyday items can increase while for decades our salary or minimum wage remains the same. So even with supplemental help for food like SNAP or WIC from the government  hygiene items are a hole , and at times they can be super expensive to purchase and some kids go to school without it because their family cannot afford it. Often times this leads to bullying , decreased performance and happiness, and general absence from school. But Johari Dozier is changing that by making trash cans into mobile hygiene units where people can donate hygiene items and those items will be given to title 1 Fulton county schools!  Listen to how it started , how's it going and how you can be a part of this mission! Don't forget to leave a review, like, and subscribe!! all social media is  @fatesentlemons be sure to follow and comment- Bi
