The people's resistance movement is taking the Filipino government and the US imperialist to court. Not the ICJ or ICC, but a court created by the people's movement itself and its international allies, called the International People's Tribunal. At the IPT the violations of international humanitarian law by the Filipino government will be exposed. It will be held on May 17th and 18th, somewhere in Europe. You are welcome to join!

In this episode we are talking with Coni Ledesma, lifelong revolutionary, and a member on the peace negotiation panel for the National Democratic Front of the Philippines. Because it’s important to realize that the terror tagging has a political function, and rarely has got anything to do with the true reality on the ground, this episode is painting a picture of a life dedicated to the struggle for justice, equality, and liberation.

From Palestine to the Philippines, wherever US imperialists are dictating the political and economical situation, we should be there side by side with the struggling people for justice and liberation.

Het contact tussen internationaal links en de revolutionaire Palestijnse beweging is sinds de jaren ‘90 afgebrokkeld. Dit heeft grote invloed gehad op ons begrip van revolutie, bevrijding, imperialisme, kolonialisme en zionisme. Door het Palestijnse verzet niet meer als leidraad te nemen voor onze Palestina solidariteitswerk, blijven alleen imperialistische instituten over zoals de VN en het ICJ om onze hoop op te vestigen.

In deze aflevering proberen we de ideologische basis terug te vinden, die nodig is om ons Palestina-activisme optimaal te kunnen uitvoeren: wat bedoelen we met “from the river to the sea”? En waarom moeten we ons niks aantrekken van wat zionisten en imperialisten vinden van deze slogan?

We hebben het ook over de as van verzet in de regio, van Jemen tot Libanon, en hoe we als linkse kameraden ons daar tegenover kunnen verhouden. Zoals altijd wanneer Thomas van Samidoun aanschuift, is het een heel verhelderend gesprek dat weer nieuw voer geeft voor revolutionaire gedachten.

Na de desastreuze verkiezingsuitslag in Nederland, richten we de blik naar het zuiden en zoeken we uit wat wij kunnen leren van de PVDA België. Ze doen iets goed, want op dit moment hebben ze 12 zetels in de Kamer en zijn ze in de huidige peilingen groter dan de partij die op dit moment de premier levert.

Ik spreek algemeen secretaris Peter Mertens met de vraag hoe we links weer populair kunnen maken. Over geduldig opbouwen van een basis. Over niet bang zijn om met gestrekt been erin te gaan. Over het zelfvertrouwen en de trots die wij als links mogen tonen. Over het spanningsveld tussen een ideologisch principiële partij zijn, en een soepele partij die op momenten die doet wat nodig is om de mensen te bereiken en te overtuigen.
