In this sermon we consider the tragic end of Saul. As God said, his life is lost in battle against the Philistines and Israel is left with out a king and many lay slain. While we are encouraged by those who finish well, we must also heed the warnings from someone who did not finish well.

In this sermon we see David respond to a crisis in his camp as his wives and the families of his men are carried off by the Amalekites. David seeks strength in the Lord and receives help and direction so that he triumphs and gains back what was taken and more!

In this sermon we consider how God delivers David from the terrible situation that he put himself into. Though we often find ourselves between a rock and hard place, God is committed to Christ being formed in us and His Kingdom being established for which we can give thanks!

In this sermon David Bosma wrestles with the difficult narrative in 1 Samuel 28. We see the devastating effects of sin against God's word and the desperate attempt of Saul to find his way around God's plan.

After many attempts on his life David decides to seek refuge among the Philistines at Gath. Though we could look at the foolishness of David's choices, we also see God's kindness and provision for David in this time.

In our study of 1 Samuel we come to Saul's final attempt to kill David and we see how God is shaping David to respond in a way that is honouring to the Lord. Though David doesn't know the future, we see him continuing to trust in the Lord and to show mercy even when it is in his power to kill his enemy.
