    Episode 001: Humility v. Pride

    Episode 001: Humility v. Pride

What comes to mind when you hear the word “humility?” Who do you think of when you hear that word? What does their life look like? How do they interact with others?

Jesus is the best model for this. How did He interact with others? What does this teach us about Christ’s character?

On our own, we typically find our worth in what we have or what we can do. According to the Gospel though, we find out that we fall short of God’s glory and desperately need someone to save us from our sin. How should this truth change us? How should this change how we interact with others and with God? What about the way we see our enemies?

Author C. S. Lewis wrote, “True humility is not thinking less of yourself, it’s thinking of yourself less.” What does that mean? Can we see this example in Jesus’ life?

Why does God care if we are humble? How can being humble bring God glory in this broken world?

With all the uncertainty of this world (corona, loss of jobs, divisions, etc), how can you put others above yourself in different aspects of your life? Be specific.

    Prayer

God, thank You for Jesus’ example of humility that He showed on the cross for me. Humble me when I am prideful and remind me that I am a sinner and the only thing I deserve is death. In Your grace and mercy, You chose me to be new through Christ. Help me to remember this and live in a way that brings honor and glory to You!
