Leo Zulueta is a Filipino tattoo artist who grew up in Hawaii. He is considered by some as the father of modern tribal tattoos. His work is heavily influenced by ancient tribal art and has become the inspiration and look for most contemporary tribal tattoos. I had the honor and privilege to speak with him and talk about how he got into tattooing, growing up with the Filipino community in Hawaii, and him being in the tattoo scene for 4 decades now. Dyani Lao is a Quezon City based tattoo artist who has been in the local tattoo scene for a few decades now. His work is based off a number of classic tattoo styles mixed with his own take on Filipino folklore. I've had the privilege of being invited to his studio for an interesting conversation about his artistic journey, early days as a tattoo artist and art student.
