    Erin Copelan's book "Welcome to Caregiving - What Caregivers Never Talk About" is the theme of our chat today. After years of caring for her husband Erin realised that she had to work really hard on healing the trauma of being a carer. This is the type of trauma that creeps up on you - it's not a bang-slap-whallop type of trauma but an attritional trauma of years of having to be on high alert, of worry, of heartbreak and grief. Understanding what carers go through will help not only other carers, but those who know carers in how to support them.     Ho'oponopono Meditation

    Ho'oponopono Meditation

    Today we are going to use the beautiful, ancient, Polynesian meditation of Ho’oponopono. The word Ho’oponopono translates as “make things right” or “make things move back into balance”. In our practice today we are using Ho’oponopono to find freedom from the past, freedom from whatever it is that we use to torment ourselves, from guilt and from situations that have caused us pain. When we practice this mantra we are using it to rectify an error in our thoughts. This error arises as thoughts that are caused by a painful memory from the past or a judgement, projection, from anger and from negative self-talk. In other words we are clearing our karmic data. We do this by apologising and asking for forgiveness from a place of love. We do this by sending this intention deep within, to ourselves, to others and to a situation. As a tool for life this mantra can be used on the move! You don’t need to be in a meditative space to use this. When you have caught yourself in judgement or anger or frustration, or caught up in a negative thought pattern, this simple mantra can unwind the harmful thinking.

In this chat we explore the delicate dance between the masculine and feminine energies that exist in relationships, in society and within ourselves. It is an endlessly interesting journey to understand and quite the challenge to throw off our deeply ingrained preconceptions of these tow opposing and complementary energies that have been drilled into us by our culture. Understanding the true nature of what these energies hold can be the answer to more fulfilling relationships and to understanding our own energies more deeply.     Flow (River) Meditation

    Flow (River) Meditation

    In this meditation I use a recording that I made sitting in bliss beside a river in the north of Scotland. The sun was warm and the green of spring was at it's most vibrant and glorious. I was inspired to create this meditation simply watching the steady flow of the beautiful water and connecting with the Svadisthana Chakra. I hope that you enjoy the soundscape!

    Relaxation Meditation (Savasana)

    I offer no apologies for giving you a very simple Savasana style relaxation meditation today! Sometimes we just need to let go and hit the reset button, and sometimes we need a little help to get to sleep or get back to sleep and this is what today's mediation is all about. Savasana is a vital part of any yoga class - the part that we all look forward to - but it is also most definitely a type of meditation. Being present enough to fully relax and let go is not as easy as it sounds! I hope that this will help you to relax and even to drift off to sleep!
