Believing in Jesus doesn’t exempt us from emotional hardship, and being a Christian doesn’t mean we won’t shed tears during our time on earth. However, it does mean that when we do hurt, we do so with the knowledge that our best days are ahead of us and a time is coming when all sadness will come to an end.

When someone dies, it’s not uncommon for a well-meaning person to say, “He’s in a better place.” But for Christians, we don’t have to live with such a vague notion of heaven because the Bible isn’t silent about the issue. When we go through times of difficulty we have instant credibility with others who are suffering because they know we understand what it feels like to hurt.
