As the name suggests, the podcast is focusing on backcountry hunting, not only in Australia and New Zealand, but anywhere else overseas where great adventures exist. I want to bring a podcast that explores gear, places and hunting opportunities, lived experiences, different perspectives and share the passion that people have for hard earned hunts.
I will also bring Australian and small businesses to the front, so listeners are exposed to some of the smaller or niche providers out there that support hunters and give hunters the chance to hear about things that they might want but didn’t know to look for.
We will examine gear and hear why hunters want/need some products and might not need others, conduct comparisons between products and locations and discuss the work/life/hunting balance of hunters.
The podcast will be educational and entertaining for hunters ranging from those who have no backpack hunting experience to those that consider themselves experts (as we can all learn something from someone).

Ep. 16 Before and After - Rick Bichel
Rick is a NSW based Sambar hunter but had not undertaken a multi-day backpack hunt - until now. Rick and I chatted about gear and prep before the hunt and then caught up after the hunt to break down what worked and what he might change for the next one. Rick is also prepping for a NZ trip later this year.
Rick is also heavily involved in mental health first aid in his workplace and we chat a bit about the benefits of hunting and 'greenspace' to our mental health.
Rick also runs a Facebook group 'NSW Sambar Hunters' that has over 3500 members and growing. They have some merch and run education and hunt events.

Ep. 15 Lucy and Ben Nilson- NZ hunters; & Up North Adventures - guided hunts
Lucy and Ben are a unique backcountry hunting duo being father and daughter hunters. Based in New Zealand, they go on some amazing hunting adventures together and Lucy captures a lot of this for her YouTube channel.

I talk with Josh from Alpine Accuracy around long range shooting and shooting deer from distance - specifically Sambar deer in Vic Alpine Park. Josh is a keen backpack hunter but also produces some lightweight products for the long range hunters.
