Ep. 46: What Does Being Obedient to God Look Like?

In this episode of Beyond Just Christian Podcast, Brenna uses Angie Baughman’s “Step By Step Bible Study Method” to discuss and break down the word “obedience.”

Using Scriptures to present both the rewards of obedience and the repercussions of disobedience, Brenna highlights the necessity of this discipline in one’s relationship with the Lord. Though it is not always fun or enjoyable of a decision to make, God rewards and blesses those who are willing to listen, and He promises us a peace that surpasses our own understanding.

Ep. 45: How to Have Quality Quiet Time with the Lord

Ep. 45: How to Have Quality Quiet Time with the Lord

In this episode of Beyond Just Christian Podcast, Brenna dives into the topic of having quality quiet time with the Lord. Oftentimes, we can struggle to come to the Lord’s presence and have quality quiet time with Him. Sometimes it’s short, not quiet, but it’s still vital to have that time with the Lord to show Him love and for us to receive His love in return.

Of course, it’s easy to fail our own expectations on what our quiet time should look like. Depending on the season of life we’re in, our quiet time with the Lord may be altered to fit our routines and schedules. Different seasons might lead to adjustments in how we approach the Lord and read our Bibles. Though our schedules and our seasons may change, the quality of our quiet time shouldn’t.

With seven tips, Brenna shares how to approach the Lord for quality quiet time no matter what season or schedule you have to adjust to.

    Scriptures Mentioned:
    1. Hebrews 4:16
    2. James 4:10
    3. Matthew 5:8
    4. John 3:30
    5. Hebrews 11:6

    Self-Reflection Questions:
    1. Did I show God my love towards Him today?
    2. Did I experience God’s love towards me today?
    3. Do I do better with longer or shorter readings of God’s Word? Is it better to break down a passage day by day than try to read the whole thing?
    4. Am I too focused on checking this off my list than I am sharing in this fellowship with God?
    5. How can I approach God boldly, humbly, and honestly?
    6. What are some unrealistic expectations I’ve held over my own head?
    7. Who do I shine the light on more: Me or God? Do I make my quiet time with God more about me than Him?

Ep. 42: How to Get Through a Breakup

On this episode of Beyond Just Christian Podcast, Brenna shares her most insightful tips to get through a breakup. Though this episode is catered more towards female listeners, these recommendations can also be applied to men who are grieving a loss of a relationship. Regardless of who’s listening, Brenna wants to remind the audience that the Lord is present in their hardships and heartbreaks. These trials aren’t something people can just “get over.” Rather, our feelings are valid and deserve to be addressed for what they are. With this advice, Brenna hopes to encourage anyone facing separation and help them get through it.

    Scriptures Mentioned:

    Self-Reflection Questions:
    1. Who are the people I trust to go to with my feelings and neediness?

    2. In what ways can I fully address my suffering instead of trying to “get over it?” Where am I at mentally and emotionally? (Be honest in your evaluation of yourself and your emotions.)

    3. Have I faced any NHL feelings? (Neediness, horniness, loneliness) How can I set healthy boundaries to prevent falling into these categories when facing temptations and enticements?

    4. What are some positive “I-Can-Get-Through-This” songs I can add to my playlist? What songs empower me without lyrically dismembering a man (or a woman)?

    5. What are some weaknesses in myself that I’d like to address and strengthen before entering a new relationship?

    6. How long do I need to take a social media fast for? Why would this be beneficial for me?

    7. What prayers can I say over my ex? How can I pray goodness over him (or her)?

    8. What new skills, hobbies, or goals do I want to dedicate myself to and try?

    9. Do I have a professional counselor I can see? If not, would I consider one?

Ep. 41: Pressed But Not Crushed: Brenna's Testimony

On this episode of Beyond Just Christian Podcast, Brenna shares her near-death experience that took place December 10th, 2023. While driving in a heavy rainstorm, a tree had fallen on her car, which resulted in an unpredicted wreck. Though her vehicle was completely pressed, she, herself, was not crushed.

For two months, Brenna wore a neck-brace, which resulted in not being able to work, drive, or do basic tasks without assistance. She shares with listeners how she had to lose all sense of normalcy to draw closer to God in intimacy. The goal of this episode is to remind listeners that God is in control of life and death, and He is the one who rescues us. The goal of healing is to not return to "normalcy," but to live changed in a way that glorifies God.

    Psalm 118:5
    Psalm 40:2
