    S2E1 - Post MBA - now what?

    S2E1 - Post MBA - now what?

Finally got my MBA and what to do with all the time!  I’ve been so used to doing 20 hours of school work a week, daily meetings with classmates and working on assignments…but now I have time…  The scariest part of working is having all that time so I could have time to do nothing.  It’s been a fun ride but here are some thoughts about what to do once an MBA goal is complete.

Keep going with spending time on building products/businesses not working on classes.
Add another hobby to your skill set
Spend more time with the family
Take time to do nothing at times…
People who encourage you to get your MBA, have a chance of not liking you after you have it…you’re a threat now….
    What is the future path?

S1E29 - How hobbies quickly turn into businesses

S1E29 - How hobbies quickly turn into businesses

It’s really cool to “make money at what you love” but sometimes you have to do something that isn’t about money.  I know…breath it's going to be ok!  There is a need for everyone to do something because you love it, and not complicate the equation with trying to build a business from that hobby.  I’ve started multiple companies that started as hobbies so maybe it's part of the hobby lifecycle to have a desire to do something for nothing which grows into something.

The 5 stages of hobby to business and back:

Stage 1: Interest in a new skill or hobby

Stage 2: You’re now good enough that people you know ask you to do the hobby for money

Stage 3:  Good enough that people you DON’T know ask you to do the hobby for money

Stage 4:  Making too much money that you need to form a business to save on taxes/liability

Stage 5:  Find another hobby to escape your new business and start again at stage 1

    Enjoy!

S1E28 - The Smart Preparation Guide for the Boom Doner

With the events happening in the Ukraine, I have been doing a lot of thinking about the different ways that folks wherever could prepare for unforeseen events.  Where you live might have some different laws but there will be many overlapping ideas to consider that I will propose.

    Maslow's hierarchy of needs:

Physiological needs:  Air, water, food, shelter, sleep, clothing, reproduction
Safety needs:  Personal safety, employment, resources, health, property
Love and belonging:  Friendship, intimacy, family, sense of connection
Esteem: respect, self-esteem, status, recognition, strength, freedom
Self-Actualization:  Desire to be the best you can be

S1E27 - Why fully remote work is a bad idea

S1E27 - Why fully remote work is a bad idea

I get it, don’t worry…I’m not saying that remote work is evil but there needs to be a balance between in person and remote to succeed in business today.  There must be facetime as needed and remote work not stigmatized by those that choose to be in the office more.  Here are 5 reasons why remote only work is a bad career move.

Fully Remote means anyone, anywhere can do your job
55% of all communication is non-verbal ie body language:The 55/38/7 Formula.  It was Albert Mehrabian, a researcher of body language, who first broke down the components of a face-to-face conversation. He found that communication is 55% nonverbal, 38% vocal, and 7% words only.
Being left out or shunned by other workers: https://hbr.org/2017/11/a-study-of-1100-employees-found-that-remote-workers-feel-shunned-and-left-out
Fully remote are less likely to communicate outside of their department
Social bonding, mentorship and professional development are stifled

S1E26 - Become a GOD of efficiency today!

S1E26 - Become a GOD of efficiency today!

S1E26 - Become a GOD of efficiency today!

Sounds a little extreme but you can make lots of steps towards your goal of domination over being efficient.  The best part is that many steps don’t take a lot of effort to get started and once you start…you can’t stop!

    Tips for being more efficient:

    Standardize as much as possible
Don’t organize first, throw away what isn’t needed then organize what’s left
    Set deadlines for everything
    Create your happy place
Prioritize friends and family over all other activities

Give some of those a shot and you’re on your way into the clouds of efficiency!

S1E25 - Knowing when to quit is important

S1E25 - Knowing when to quit is important

S1E25 - Knowing when to quit is important

There are times in life when either a job, group or team just doesn’t seem to be working as it should.  When there is more effort needed to get together than the fun/excitement from whatever you’re doing…you have to ask yourself if it’s time to quit.  Many people like to say that gritting though issue is important but that only is true if the payoff is worth it.

    When you should quit:

The group feels funky or just isn’t working together
You don’t find value in your time spent
There is little to no excitement about being a part of the team
You just don’t feel it's in your best interest to continue

You can do it, and it’s worth it everytime.
