Marketing automation refers to software platforms and technologies designed for marketing departments and organizations to more effectively market on multiple channels online (such as email, social media, websites, etc.) and automate repetitive tasks.
Started in the early 90s, marketing automation is currently used for email automation, contact and sales automation and more recently campaign automation.
With advancements in artificial intelligence, marketing automation is expected to broaden even further in the coming years, and to be able to be used for some of the more complicated tasks that marketers have to take on.
