Elise Loehnen Talks About the Price Women Pay to be Good.

My chat today is with Elise Loehnen, a writer, editor,  podcast host and author of one of my favourite books this year. Elise’s book - On Our Best Behaviour - The Seven Deadly Sins and the price women pay to be good explores these ancient ideas of morality that still control and distort women’s lives today. As someone who has always wrestled with this idea of “being good”, I found this chat with the incredibly clever Elise, a bit of a game changer.

How Motherhood Sculpts our Brains for the Better

How Motherhood Sculpts our Brains for the Better

A chat with Dr Sarah Mackay, neuroscientist, mother and author of Baby Brain - a new book which argues baby brain - as we know it - isn't scientifically true and becoming a mother is actually one of the best things to ever happen to a woman's brain.

Weaving together studies and interviews with other specialists, Dr Sarah Mackay makes a pretty convincing argument that having a baby improves a mother's memory making her smarter, more empathetic, intuitive and socially savvy.

Jane Marx on starting a business with a newborn (when everyone tells you not to)

Jane Marx on starting a business with a newborn (when everyone tells you not to)

When Jane Marx was pregnant with her second child, her successful hospitality business which employed refugee women, was forced to close during covid. Facing one of the most stressful times of her life, Jane had to pivot and (through a series of events) The Beautiful Bunch was born.

The Beautiful Bunch is a floral-delivery service bringing joy through flowers, and creating jobs for women from refugee backgrounds, who are experiencing barriers to employment.

Jane's story from hopelessness to success (all while nursing a newborn) is an incredibly inspiring reminder for us all to keep going, even when everyone you know tells you not to.
