Genesis 22:7-8
"7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? 8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together."
 
For the past week or so, the Holy Spirit has led me on a journey that began with a beautiful song by one of my favorite ministers, Minister Dunsin Oyekan "More Than A Song". Through this song, the Holy Spirit reminded me that I am the sacrifice God loves and takes pleasure in. 
 
In this scripture, Isaac asks Abraham about the burnt offering they would offer to the Lord, though none was in sight, Abraham reassured his son that God would provide. 
 
 As you listen to today's podcast, I hope you remember how valuable you are that God does not intend to make a fool of you; God isn't in the business of disappointing you if you trust and remain obedient to His command. Every time you pray, fast, or stay in the secret place with God, you are presenting yourself as a burnt offering, as a sacrifice to your maker.

Philippians 1:29“For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;”
What is the suffering of Christ? Did Christ suffer? What does it mean to suffer for and with Christ? Many of us, myself included, have not completely understood the role of suffering in the body of Christ, for many, salvation ends at confessing Jesus as Lord and Savior, when in actuality, it goes much beyond this. Psalms 91:1-16 
"1He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
3Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
4He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
5You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
6Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
7A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
8Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.
9Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
12In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
13You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
14“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
15He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
16With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”
 
For us to inherit and partake of the blessings of God, we must stay and remain in the secret place, where He is.

Oftentimes, we cannot understand why bad things are happening in our lives, especially when we know we're being good. God never promised us a perfect life; the Bible reminds us in Psalm 23:4, "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me". The good news is that even through the darkest and scariest times, God will never leave us. 
Reading this scripture, I remembered Jesus and His suffering while taking on our punishments, though He was sinless. As we face the storms of life, we must remember that God is always with us and draw strength from Him.
