Laura Willis—Switching Off from Digital Life (Rebroadcast)

Peter’s editor stepping in here. Hi!

Peter and his wife recently had a baby boy! Huge congratulations. The baby came much earlier than expected but thankfully the boy is healthy and at home.

As a result, Peter is taking some time away from work where possible. He was sadly unable to attend the Hope Conference and extends his apologies to anyone hoping to see him there.

This month, we highlight this evergreen interview with Laura Willis of Shine Offline. Digital life is always after more of our attention. Sometimes the best thing for our mental health is to switch off our devices and get back to analogue life.

    Emmanuel Jal—Reclaim your Mind (Rebroadcast)

    Emmanuel Jal—Reclaim your Mind (Rebroadcast)

Warning: This episode contains stories some listeners may find upsetting and is not suitable for children. Please listen at your own discretion. Please use the ‘Find Help & Support’ section below for resources if you need them.

Emmanuel started life as a child soldier in the war-torn region of Southern Sudan in the early 1980s. He has a story of overcoming huge personal traumas to go on and become an acclaimed recording artist, peace ambassador, and life performance coach.

We speak to Emmanuel about how he specifically overcame his traumas and reclaimed his mind, which was consumed by debilitating thoughts and beliefs from his past.

The phrase that still sticks with me today is:“Your brain can only process trauma when you are in a place of peace.”

I hope you enjoy this episode from Season 2 of Mentality Meets.

    From the original episode description:

Emmanuel went from child soldier to peace ambassador today. We’ll discuss mental poverty, trauma, and high stress shut down the faculties of our mind.

Emmanuel goes on to share the three ingredients to change our lives…
    1. an audacious vision,
    2. knowing our purpose,
    3. and a positive external environment.

When you do all three positive change becomes possible.

Lauren Silver—A bit of Fun (Rebroadcast)

This months podcast is a bit of fun. Lauren is passionate about helping people bring play into their everyday. But the results are no joke! She uses improvisational and playful performance techniques to boost creativity, confidence, and communication in teams.

This, in turn, creates a positive and productive working environments for corporate as well as freelance industries, where wellbeing and collaboration come together.

This was a lot of fun to record.

    Angela Samata—Hope in Bereavement (Rebroadcast)

    Angela Samata—Hope in Bereavement (Rebroadcast)

As the world has been slowly returning to a more ‘normal’ sense of normality, I’ve been assessing the best next steps for Mentality Meets. Due to time and other commitments, I’m pausing the creation of new episodes. However I do want to draw back to previous episodes as there is still a lot of great content and insight.

This year's theme is hope, so we're jumping all the way back to Season 1, Episode 1 where I talk with Angela Samata. In this episode, Angela shows us there is hope, even if we’ve experience the death of a loved one by suicide. It’s not the style of Mentality Meets you’ll be used to, but I hope you still enjoy it.

    Henry Johnstone—Hope & Healing

For those suffering with mental health illnesses, I have a lot of hope for improving our mental wellbeing… but what about healing? In this episode we push it further than learning to live with mental health illnesses and explore the path to being healed. Henry Johnstone works by helping people realign the connections in their subconscious mind — which, in many cases, has allowed his clients to heal from anxiety and depression. In this episode, he shares about the power and release that healing in the mind can bring people.
