Episode 17 - Charitable Shenanigans (WE Scandal): Peoplekind News

Taylor and Matthew take a deep dive into the now-concluded WE Scandal. We’ve already covered the Kielburgers in-depth, but now we address their latest scandal, which spanned nearly an entire year and resulted in investigations, destroyed careers, millions of taxpayer money wasted, and another blemish on the scarred face of Justin Trudeau and his Liberals. Join us as we explore the deep ties between Liberal politicians and an international charity with scandals of its own. How did Trudeau mess up this badly? Why was WE Charity selected to run a government program? And what on earth were the Liberals thinking? We answer these questions and more!

Episode 16 - The Kielburgers, Feel Bad Activists (Part Two): Peoplekind of Canada

Episode 16 - The Kielburgers, Feel Bad Activists (Part Two): Peoplekind of Canada

Taylor and Matthew continue their appraisal of Craig and Mark Kielburger, the founders of WE Charity and ME to WE. We talk how WE Charity has partnered with corporations who exploit and enslave children in their global supply chains; legal obfuscations; what does voluntourism actually accomplish; white saviours; regulatory mischief in Kenya; and the ease with which charity and crime walk hand-in-hand. Join us as we continue to grimace at charity megalomaniacs, Craig and Marc Kielburger. Also! We talk a bit of news: Record breaking temperatures in BC; should Canada Day be celebrated; and Matthew rambles about the ‘historical spirit’ that is seeing statues of oppressors being torn down and beheaded.

For more on WE’s partnering with companies that exploit children, read the article from CANADALAND: Craig Kielburger Founded WE To Fight Child Labour. Now The WE Brand Promotes Products Made By Children.

Episode 15 - The Kielburgers, Feel Bad Capitalists (Part One): Peoplekind of Canada

Episode 15 - The Kielburgers, Feel Bad Capitalists (Part One): Peoplekind of Canada

Taylor and Matthew donate their time to appraise the ‘charitable acts’ of Craig and Marc Kielburger, the founders of WE Charity and ME to WE. We cover their lives from privileged wunderkinds to (allegedly) corrupt charity icons. We talk forbidden love with a donkey; the financial shenanigans that saw their charity (WE Charity) giving money to their for-profit business (ME to WE); allegations of bullying and racism at WE Charity; lying to children who believe they are raising money to build a school abroad; demon children and libel suits; and a PR team obsessed with stamping out any and all criticism (we look forward to the lawsuit, Kielburgers!) Join us as we stare into the abyss, recounting the rise and fall of the Kielburgers before the WE Scandal of 2020.

Episode 14 - Mad Max Goes to Jail: Peoplekind News

Episode 14 - Mad Max Goes to Jail: Peoplekind News

Taylor and Matthew talk Canadian news: We begin by acknowledging the tragic death of four members of a Muslim family by the hands of a hateful terrorist in London, Ontario. Also, the hypocrisy of Bloc and Conservative sentiments expressed to the media. Politics and religion intersect as churches thirsty for ‘persecution’ go against public health orders and worsen the pandemic. Matthew reveals his anti-Protestant bigotry. Maxime Bernier launches his ‘Mad Max’ tour and is promptly arrested. And lastly, we return to the Green Party, where an ancient war between bureaucrats and quasi-idealist bureaucrats worsens. Will Annamie Paul succumb to the demands of the Federal Council? Will the Federal Council ratchet up their alleged racism? Will the Green Party ever become an ideologically coherent party? (To the last one, no).

Episode 13 - Annamie Paul, Curmudgeonly Centrist Goo: Peoplekind of Canada

Episode 13 - Annamie Paul, Curmudgeonly Centrist Goo: Peoplekind of Canada

Taylor and Matthew sigh at Annamie Paul, the newest leader of the Green Party of Canada. We cover her life from well-intentioned uber professional to bad-intentioned neoliberal hack. We talk her failures to achieve a seat in the House of Commons; how her limp centrist blathering defeated eco-socialists; a strong anti-TikTok stance; the emptiness of diversity rhetoric without meaningful policy; allegations of racism in the Green Party; and Paul’s continued silence on whether wine or beer is better. Also, Matthew gets a bit too angry as centrism takes over yet another Canadian federal party. Join us as we dare to discuss one of the most boring, empty politicians Canada has produced so far, Annamie Paul.

Episode 12 - Canada is Bad, Folks: Peoplekind News

Episode 12 - Canada is Bad, Folks: Peoplekind News

Taylor and Matthew talk Canadian news: Liberal MP William Amos still doesn’t know how to turn off his webcam and urinates in front of his fellow virtual MPs. Taylor goes after Manitoba premier, Brian Pallister, for his numerous failures regarding COVID-19. Despite the efficacy of magic mushroom therapy, the Liberals make it hard for terminally ill patients to access it. And then we take a more somber tone as we discuss the discovery of a mass grave at an old residential school in Kamloops. Trudeau gives us his best crocodile tears, while his government spends millions fighting survivors in court.
