06/02 - Voter Suppression in Texas leads to Dem Walk out

06/02 - Voter Suppression in Texas leads to Dem Walk out

On Sunday night May 31st, 2021, Texas democrats successfully staged a walk out to prevent a vote from being held before a midnight deadline on a bill that would add new restrictions to elections in the state.

The vote for Senate Bill 7 was prevented from meeting its midnight deadline and was unable to move forward with its passing.

Senate Bill 7 would implement some of the strictest voting restrictions in the country, making Texas the most challenging state to cast a ballot in America.

Senate Bill 7 would implement a ban drive through booths, a ban on mobile voting booths, mail in voting restrictions, a ban on early voting on Sunday mornings, and changes evidence requirements for overturning an election.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott lead the charge for the vote in favor of Senate Bill 7, and as of June 1, 2021 Abbott threatens the paychecks of the democratic lawmakers who staged the walkout.

04/30 - Boris Johnson Scandal with Dyson and Finance, Supreme court to reevaluate second amendment decision

04/30 - Boris Johnson Scandal with Dyson and Finance, Supreme court to reevaluate second amendment decision

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is caught up in not one, but two scandals with regard to things he has been found saying off the record.  In a series of texts between Johnson and Dyson, Johnson has promised tax breaks for product use of ventilators.  Johnson has also been accused of saying that he would rather "have bodies piled high" in the thousands rather than go into another lockdown.

Biden has vocally declared white supremacy as terrorism, the first US president to do so.  Biden has also said that Reagans "Trickle Down economics" plan does not work.  Biden is also the first president to say this.

03/24 - The UK erupts, more shootings in America (Gun Control discourse)

03/24 - The UK erupts, more shootings in America (Gun Control discourse)

This week the United Kingdom saw more unrest with a series a protests throughout the country, notably of protestors demanding to be allowed the right to protest despite lock down restrictions.  Protestors say they desire to show solidarity with the loss of Sarah Everard and that the police are infringing on their rights to protest.

The Bristol bill introduced into parliament is set to go into affect soon, creating a limit on protests and increasing the power of the police to enforce lock down restrictions.

Immigration is another topic in the eyes of the country as both the UK and the USA are in conversation to increase immigration restrictions as more immigrants are coming to the UK via waterways.  The Biden administration is under fire and from both progressives and democrats for their handling of the Mexican immigrant population traveling to the Texas border.

Sean and I discuss gun discourse comparing our two countries.
