Listen back on workshops, discussions, and focus groups from Quidditch Australia’s Strategic Forum, held at Sydney’s Brain and Mind Centre in February 2020.
-
Session 1.1. Welcome & Group Introductions
Alison introduces herself and the ideas and purpose behind the forum. The group then goes around and introduces themselves with a discussion about what attracted them to quidditch and why they have stayed in the sport, as a lead into the next discussion around values in the sport.
-
Session 1.2. Values & Vision
The group brainstorms values associated with quidditch, the idea being to understand what was important and valuable about quidditch that we should try and maintain in the organisation and community in years to come. We then also began brainstorming our vision for the organisation - where we wanted to see quidditch in five years.
-
Session 1.3. Creating a Vision Statement
Having discussed values and our vision, the group tries to come up with a single ‘tag-line’ type statement to encapsulate these ideas, that might serve as Quidditch Australia’s vision statement. Listen to our discussion and see what we came up with.
-
Session 2.1. Open Space Introduction & Change the Name
Jamie introduces Open Space Technology, the group comes up with five major strategic focuses for QA over the next five years, and we have a focused discussion around the first - changing the name of quidditch.
-
Session 2.2. Money & Fundraising (Open Space)
For Open Space Discussion 2, Logan brings the focus to money, grants, and fundraising for quidditch.
-
Session 2.3. Youth Leagues and Recruitment (Open Space)
For Open Space Discussion 3, Kelsey brings the focus to developing youth leagues as a source of long term recruitment, and the group discusses recruitment and outreach activities generally.
