TADATMYA: Devotional Alliance is an experience of community where deep bonds of affection and sacred acceptance weave the space in which to embrace our humanity as the context of our spirituality. This channel houses conversations, reflections and explorations of the seven pillars of RADICAL PERSONALISM, the foundation of TADATMYA—the organic gathering of like-hearted Kindred Spirits. The seven pillars are: 1) Vulnerability that Leads to Empowerment; 2) Individuation that Carves Out Our Full Humanity; 3) Nondual Thinking: Acknowledging that Everything is One, but Never Impersonal; 4) Epistemological Modesty: Remaining Students Forever; 5) Divine Ignorance: Embracing Mystery, Uncertainty and Paradox as the Basis of Faith; 6) Contemplative Prayer: Living Prayer as the Fabric of Inner Life; 7) Sanctity of Matter as Host of Spiritual World
~~~~~~
After being invited to share the principles of Radical Personalism, Swami Padamanabha journeyed around the world, further churning and unpacking its nuances. During his travels, Swami continually discovered like-hearted people who were living their version of Radical Personalism, some of whom may not have yet named or framed the rhythm of their heart as such, but completely identified with it as soon as they heard it. Stepping back and gazing on such a wonderful belongingness that already existed, Swami Padmanabha found this devotional alliance, TADATMYA, in order to give that belonging a place to flow together.
    ISTAGOSTHI: Questions and Answers with Swami Padmanabha — May 18, 2024
    00:00 Swami Padmanabha welcomes questions as a blessing—where Krishna, the Sweet Absolute, is blessing both the speaker and the inquirer. And we should expect something transformative to come from that sacred event. Maharaja also invites us to approach Ekadasi, which occurs tomorrow in the Eastern US, as a way to step outside of our routine and into sacred disruption, allowing ourselves to enter liminal space water we can be taken by surprise by Krishna’s presence. We can create some kind of ritual to mark the day as something extraordinary, which every day is, but we need to be reminded of that and that is what these special observances are for.
    08:23 If Krishna interacts only with his svarupa-shakti, and Paramatma acts just as a witness, what is the efficacy of prayer? Is there efficacy in praying to pure devotees? Do they hear or respond?
    25:39 Does nondual thinking occur naturally in one of the particular stages of our bhakti practice, or can it be present in any stage if it is cultivated?
    40:40 How do we accept the desires and opinions of the guru and at the same time maintain our own individuality?
    53:38 I’ve heard that as long as we are worshipping in the mood of awe and reverence, we are actually worshipping Vishnu and Lakshmi, even if we are worshipping Radha-Krishna deities. Is there truth to that? When do we no we are no longer in the mood of awe and reverence?
    01:08:53 What is the mula mantra about, especially the reference to Parabrahma and Paramatma?
    01:28:02 What does 3rd nama-aparadha, guror avajna (to neglect the guru), actually mean?
    ISTAGOSTHI: Questions and Answers with Swami Padmanabha — May 11, 2024
    0:00 Swami Padmanabha shares our common hopes for today’s gathering and further reflections on the recent self-love in bhakti series of classes given in Alachua, FL.
    04:49 Are we meant to search for a guru or will a guru find us? And how do we know when we have met our guru?
    33:51 A not-yet-known listener joins in and becomes known
    37:16 How can we harmonize the perspective that bhakti is very difficult, with only 1 out of thousands coming to know Krishna in truth, with the perspective that Krishna’s unconditional love is already coming to us.
    01:01:45 How does “feeling good” about our service play out in a healthy way? What is our motivation for service if we don’t yet feel compelled internally and don’t want to force ourselves artificially?
    1:19:31 I’ve been told that chanting or praying silently is impersonal. Is that true?
    ISTAGOSTHI: Questions and Answers with Swami Padmanabha — May 4, 2024
    0:00 Swami Padmanabha shares some insight from the class, SELF-LOVE IN BHAKTI: Learning to Relate to Ourselves (part 1), which he gave the previous night introducing another way of speaking about integrative, wholesome and healthy paradigms with which to approach our spiritual life.
    01:43 Swami spontaneously honors the sacredness of the Istagosthi, describing it as a way of circumambulating with respect and honor the center, our ISTA, the all-attractive Sri Krishna. It is an opportunity to gather together, acknowledging our interconnection with each other around a common center.
    06:40 What is the importance of Ekadasi? Is it beneficial to myself and pleasing to Krishna if I do something in a ritualistic way, before I feel connected internally?
    29:38 In RADICAL PERSONALISM, you speak about the nondual reality of the Absolute. What do you mean when you say we must train our minds in non-dual thinking?
    54:30 How much of our free will is free? What influence do the planets have on our free will?
    01:11:38 In the context of self-love in bhakti, how do we love those aspects of ourselves that directly oppose our engagement in spirituality?
    ISTAGOSTHI: Questions and Answers with Swami Padmanabha — April 27, 2024
    ISTAGOSTHI: Questions and Answers with Swami Padmanabha — April 27, 2024
    0:00 Swami Padmanabha invites all to participate in this exchange of questions and answers in a mutual reach into the potential of relating with one another—to awaken, acknowledge and celebrate the fact that everything is interconnected as we explore the reach and depth of that connectedness in the ocean of TADATMYA—empathy. What’s the heart? What’s my heart? What am I in potential? What are you? And what can happen when multiple potentialities combine with each other under the banner of TADATMYA: empathy, openness and relationality? Istagosthi is the online laboratory to explore this.
    03:17 Swami shares news of his upcoming lecture series on place of self-love in Bhakti—is it possible beyond narcissism?; as well as the progress of his current book, now writing about how matter is not as inert as we may think.
    05:31 How can we devotionally approach and conceive of the limits presented to us due to aging or chronic illness?
    26:32 How should we interpret and harmonize these two statements: “the guru is a representative of god” and “the guru is a manifestation of god”?
    49:34 Could you explain how we are to meditate on the meaning of the holy name while chanting japa?
    01:05:57 Sometimes we hear that we should not desire to go to Goloka Vrindavan—that that is a selfish desire—and also the opposite: that we should intensely desire to go there. Can you please speak about this?
    01:24:52 How can we relate to difficulties so that we do not fall into victim-consciousness?
    TADATMYA Live—BACK TO ABC: The Fundamental Role of Human Nature in our Practice of Bhakti | B.R. Svami
    The profound practice of Bhakti-yoga rests upon an understanding of our human nature acquired through prior experiences. Misinterpreting this fundamental aspect can result in dissatisfaction with one's spiritual journey and disheartening encounters within communal life.
    This discourse serves as an opportunity to contemplate our approach to studying, integrating, and disseminating the wisdom of our tradition, particularly amidst the dynamic landscape of continual challenges.
