The B-I-B-L-E, is it really the book for me? (Ep. 142)

The B-I-B-L-E, is it really the book for me? (Ep. 142)

Welcome back T&J fam! This week we pick up where last week ended; the Bible. In order to use the Bible as a data point, we need to figure out if it can be trusted as a reliable, valid source. So, we try to do just that - explore the legitimateness of the Bible. As arm chair theologians we recognize that there is much more information our there than we can process, but we do our best to throw out what influenced our decision making. We define the "canon" and look at both internal and external variables that help us understand scripture. We then touch on ways this can be read and understood. As always, we hope you enjoy. Feel free to shoot us an email to the address below with thoughts and questions.

“Trinity or No Trinity….. that is the Question” - Arius (Maybe) (Ep. 141)

“Trinity or No Trinity….. that is the Question” - Arius (Maybe) (Ep. 141)

We are back T&J fam! And y’all are in for a treat. We explain the tension we tried to create during the last show and begin identifying who Jesus and the trinity are this week. We go back to the beginning … almost. This week we look at the Arian Controversy that led to the Council of Nicea and ultimately the Nicean Creed, which we still use today (Shout out Rich Mullins and Third Day). We look at the biblical information about the Godhead and begin to paint the picture of our faith. We hope you enjoy!

Conditioned to be Christian (Ep. 140)

Conditioned to be Christian (Ep. 140)

Welcome back T&J fam! This week we start the beginning of our Christian reconstruction with a rough launch. Due to sickness and scheduling troubles, we record a slightly shorter episode than normal via Zoom. But we would not let these barriers keep us from answering the question "Why did I ever start caring about God to begin with?". After discussing our personal experiences from childhood we look at some information we got from friends and families about this topic. These leads to a discussion on the influence of our culture and whether we were all just conditioned to believe this thing called Christianity. We hope you enjoy and please reach out with questions or comments to the address below!

Amputation, Tax Evasion, and the Future of T&J (Ep. 139)

Amputation, Tax Evasion, and the Future of T&J (Ep. 139)

Welcome back T&J fam! This week we have a normal and not normal episode for you. First, we discuss the NFL draft and Josh's nerd tendencies. Then, Marty gives his dad's mutilated finger a shout out. Somehow Josh turns this into a discussion on tax evasion and money laundering, which leads Marty to share a bunch of dirty little industry cheat codes. Finally, Josh and Marty get the the heart of the show; the future of T&J. I guess you will just have to listen to figure out what that means.

"It couldn't just be my father's God" with Jeremy Height (Ep. 137)

"It couldn't just be my father's God" with Jeremy Height (Ep. 137)

Welcome back T&J family! Today we have special guest Jeremy Height filling in for Josh, who is stranded in New York City. Jeremy was schedule to be a guest but quickly got promoted to co-host in Josh's absence. Marty and Jeremy grew up together because, obviously, they're family. Jeremy discusses growing up as a pastor's kid, ministry in urban environments, personal growth, and life in Croatia. This proved to be an easy conversation that went by faster than we realized. Hopefully you have the same experience listening. And check out the link to Jeremy's website below! Enjoy!
