Founded by Thomas Carlyle in 1841 The London Library is one of the world’s great lending libraries and a place of inspiration and support to writers, readers and scholars of all kinds.
Well-known members and former members include: Charles Dickens, Charles Darwin, Virginia Woolf, EM Forster, George Eliot, TS Eliot and VS Naipaul.
