ROTSB #40 ALEX SCOTT - The first Combat Room black belt
Alex has over 20 years experience as an international level athlete, representing NZ at both Commonwealth and World Championships in Fencing and then going on to represent NZ at multiple World Championships in BJJ and competing on professional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu events like Boa Super 8.
He is a 3rd degree black belt under Vânderson Pires.
Alex has experienced the benefits of Jiu-Jitsu not only from a competitive sports aspect but also from a health and wellness perspective. Alex successfully recovered from a serious injury which marked the change in his path from fencing to Jiu-Jitsu. This taught Alex the importance of a daily physical and mental practice to develop a positive mindset in order to achieve your goals and enjoy life to it's fullest.
Alex also has a diploma in Exercise Science from Massey University and a Diploma in Adult Education from Te Wanaga o Aotearoa. He was manager for the Wellington branch of The New Zealand Sports Academy; teaching the Certificate in Sports Leadership course before moving to Sydney and opening Combat Room BJJ Sydney with his wife and business partner Anna Fitzgerald.
They decided to close the gym during the Covid lockdowns and are now working on a new project called Free Range BJJ. -

Jimmy is world renowned for his judo expertise, coaching ability, and training methods.
As a world renowned coach, his success at the 2012 & 2016 Olympic Games led to the victories of Kayla Harrison earning back-to-back gold medals and Travis Stevens earning a silver medal in 2016.
Jimmy currently owns and operates Pedro’s Judo Center in Wakefield, MA as well as President of FUJI Mats & Vice President of Hatashita / FUJI Sports.

Dale is a brown belt at Combat Room, Wellington. He started training BJJ in his 50s as a hobby to share with his stepson. He currently works at the Wellington Hospital as an orderly trainer. He coaches the fundamentals class twice per week and is a great inspiration for all of us at Combat Room. We discuss his BJJ journey, goals and achievements so far. -
